Pretty happy with him,

Let me know what you think.

Personally, I love the Khârn, but I know whats missing on the Hellblade: the red is too flat. For an Imperial ship, there would be no problem to that, but I think it needs to be broken up a bit, maybe with some designs in the individual red cells, or freehand, whatever. But, aside from that one little detail, your model is superb. Any chance for a detail pic on the pilot?

A tournament is coming up at the end of April and I want to give it a go with my Chaos. I thought this would be a good opportunity to set a deadline for myself and see if I can paint my list. I plan to use these two daemon princes. I also finally finished the berserker squad.

(Standard Bearer still needs paint)

Touched up some things on this guy after the picture was taken.

I have to paint:

10 Man Squad

7 Plague Marines

2 Vindicators

5 Man Chosen Squad

Rhino

1 Berserker Standard Bearer

3 Obliterators

All in 46 days...

Sure thing Brother Ash:

1.) Mechrite Red basecoat

2.) Black line the red with scorched brown

3.) Wash with Baal Red

4.) Highlight with Blood Red

5.) Sharp Highlight with Blazing Orange

Tanks do not get the wash because of pooling issues. Not sure if there is anyway I can get around this and so I hoped there wouldn't be to much of a difference. They also get some slight weathering instead.

Plague Marines are finished. The old models were really fun to paint. I like them a lot more than the new ones.

Not the best of pictures but it gives you an idea.

Cheers,

I am not even going to critique this stuff. It's a great looking army, and you've had little motivation in the way of inspiration from other painters.... In fact aside from myself, I don't think I've seen another 'true' Red Corsairs army. Great stuff. You've gone a long way with a difficult colour scheme.

Personally I came to love the background of the army, but right from the get go the Chaos Codex had its ... detractors. I hope you're having fun with it.

Thank you for the red formula. As for the tank washing problem, I would suggest maybe using an airbrush or the GW Spray Gun. Either of those would give you an even coverage of the wash on a flat surface after you've given it a run thru a bit, hope that helps. Oh and love the old school Plague Marines, very well done!

Sorry for the lack of updates recently. I have managed to finish some terminators, and I'm still working towards finishing my list for a tournament.

Finished the predator and a vindicator this weekend. Pretty happy with the results too, especially the vindicator dozer blade. I already started working on the remaining six marines. They will take the most time.

Cheers,

Very nice army and great use of red. Just as a suggestion to try especailly on the larger vechilces (try on something smaller or test first) is a mixture of minieral turps and a tiny amount of brown/ black oil based paint. It is used as a wash and runs well into groves etc giving a miniature more depth. Alot of aircraft and hobbiest use this method. It takes a while to dry and any excess can be wiped off with a larger brush and a bit of turps if required. It works alot better tan normal washes etc and is far more subtle.
