Phodos
I just bought a box of Termies and was wondering what would be a good gearing setup for a unit of 5 of them. I dont want to overspend but i also want them to be a little intimidating. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188672-terminators/ Share on other sites
Sarapham
If you look around on the two first pages of the forum I think there is already atleast 2 threads about this. Grey Mage
Personally, Id decide first if you want any of them to be characters or not. This is pretty army specific, so think about it. Most HQs do very very well in Runic Armor though. Then after that Id make one or two with just Powerfist and Stormbolter if you want them for pack leaders. Theyre tough, theyre killy, and theyre only 3pts more than a PF wielding GH. Id also consider one with a Powerweapon just for those times you need an "el cheapo" pack leader, and besides the models for it can be rather amazing and double as a frost blade. Do you like Assault Cannons? If so then a PF+Assault cannon or Wolf Claw+AC is probly a good one for you. And Id suggest a model with 2x Wolf Claws in any event... they are dead killy. DeffWolf
i go with 1 battle leader, and 4 termies: 2x Chainfists 4x Storm Bolters 2x Frost Weapons 1x Wolf Claw 1x Heavy Flamer Cheap and nasty :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188672-terminators/#findComment-2232513 Share on other sites
Aeddon
You need five Wolf Guard to take the Heavy Flamer. My understanding it that the Battle Leader does not count towards that number, They need to be bought as the same squad. Grey Mage
Correct, but he could have PA models to make up that number. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188672-terminators/#findComment-2232519 Share on other sites
Night Runner
If you're feeling adventurous try magnetizing the arms. It'll save you a lot of money and give you a lot of versatility. Phodos
Thanks for responces guys, that helped a bit. As far as using termies as pack leaders, how effective is that. I know you lose sweeping advance and it looks to me like more of a loss than a gain, but I've never used them for that so I cant really say. Also, if I were to use one as a Battle Leader, would 2 WC be a good choice for him or does anybody have other suggestions specifically for him? I plan on buying another box to fill in any blanks in a week or two so it would be nice to plan ahead :D Thanks again! Grey Mage
If your footslogging Id always do it, if your drop podding its alright, and if your mechanized I wouldnt touch it with a 10 foot pole. Freman Bloodglaive
Since you no longer need a character to lead a terminator squad I would say don't bother putting together a battle leader to lead the terminators. My frost axe/storm bolter battle leader has gone back to being a power weapon/storm bolter Wolf Guard. On the other hand I am turning a thunder hammer/bolt pistol jump pack pack leader into a frost blade/storm shield jump pack battle leader to go with my sky claws (I5 FTW). All my terminators are metal on the old 25mm round base (it is what they were supplied with). Wolf Guard that will be deployed as pack leaders generally get power armour (and a power fist). Losing sweeping advance is a big disadvantage that isn't balanced by an increase in killing power and the extra survivability isn't that important. I prefer heavy weapons in my Wolf Guard squad rather than splitting them across the table. WG Vrox
I agree with Grey Mage, a HQ does very well with Runic Armor and SS, better protection and even a bit of protection against Psy Powers. As for your Terrmie squad If you not going to be putting a CML in with a foot sloggin 10 man GH squad or LF, then the heavy flammer is a cheap effective weapon for either a DP or LR TDA force. HF/CF - TDA SS/PW - TDA SS/WC - TDA SB/PF - TDA CM/CCW - PA CM/CCW - PA This makes for an effective realatively cheap force that can go into a drop pod or LR and do very well. For the 5th TDA WG either give him a Assault Cannon/CF to switch out for the HF/CF at times or make him as SS/TH for an Arjac Rockfist model when you want some serious assaulty power. Vrox.
