Bjorn.... incredibly short

Anyone else using the old metal Bjorn model? I just got one off eBay as I couldn't find the one I had from 2nd Edition.

I just finished assembling him and updating his Heavy Flamer with the newer nozzle and I put him next to a Mk IV dread and he is a good half centimetre shorter! I'm going to have to model some epic rocky outcrop to have him standing on like a Guns n Roses video otherwise he will look like a midget next to the new FW one I have on advance order!

He's looking nice with his Plasma Cannon arm though. Will post pics when i finish the greenstuffing.

He will be getting the banner pole from the FW dread, so yeh that should make him look suitably imposing. But in terms of body size, he looks like a run next to the FW dreads. I don't have an AOBR plastic dread to compare him to either, how does he measure up there?

:) simple answer, the model is older. the new plastics and resin are slightly bigger and different. if you look at the rogue trader space marines you'll see the difference in size and look as the years go on, with better machines and equipment to make the molds.

I got both of my dreads in the 3rd Edition, a Space wolf model & a standard SM model. There both metal and of the some size.

I didn't like the look of the LR from the 2nd edition and was happy when they brought the new one out.

Now all we need are some new Rhino tank base models so the very old ones can take a break, besides they look silly next to the last ones I got

lol I meant the first boxed release of the old 2nd Ed dread. It came with THREE CCW! THREE! I think they all did something different as well. The Thunder Hammer, Power Claw and Power Scourge all had separate rules.

I love your 3D banner Dark Bjoern!

I still have that hammer in my bitz box.

I have 4 space wolf dreadnoughts, Bjorn with plasma (forgeworld square model) a lascannon/missile model, another assault cannon/storm bolter model, and a plastic one with all the options. Somehow I have all of them on the plastic dreadnought base.

The size is close enough for them all to work together on the table.

Both of my Space Wolves Dreadnoughts are metal ones from 2nd Edition, so they don't look just fine standing next to each other:

Snorri is unfortunately missing one of the missiles from his scratchbuilt missile launcher; I need to get that fixed one of these days.

He's lived to be 10,000+ plus and be called an Old One because he's smart. No gigantic war-tomb for him. No, something far more subtle...order that all the other Dreads created after him be made bigger. His real plan: they'll look more important in the eyes of the enemy. Thus, less melta pointed at Bjorn.

Clever.

I have a great love of those old metal Dreads, the detail is great and they are quite cheap now as most people want the easier to convert plastic ones. As for the AOBR Dread, I don't really like it. It's good as a cheap table top model but I feel it lacks any real character.

For my old metal Bjorn Dread I added a couple of suitably sized washers to his ankles and one to the torso joint (look carefully in the pic and you can see them), that bumped him up enough to be almost the same size

and with extra armour plates and re-angled arms he came out looking a lot stockier than normal - scale wise that is

Hope that helps
