LardO'Blood
So far I've painted 9/10 of my tactical squad, the 10th is a sergeant and I need more paint colors to do him (Flesh etc.) I expect to do a lot more detailing but currently I have the main idea painted. This is the first marine I painted, I haven't uploaded the full squads pictures yet. How do y'all paint eye lenses? I'm afraid of blotching his head when I try to get red into the eye. (I also need to add the symbol on his shoulder, I lost my transfer sheet so once I find it I'll pop them on) I have a very limited color pallete, currently I only own black, 2 shades of blue, red and a weird whitish color. Without further ado: http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/8421/img1261modified.jpg http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/2892/img1264modified.jpg http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/284/img1266modified.jpg CC are welcome but please remember this is my first time painting miniatures. (Yeah I know I went crazy dry brushing) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188711-mah-crimson-fists/ Share on other sites
General Ravensong
Paint the eyes with tiny brushes and the blood of catholic school girls tau players. It looks like either you've done a sloppy job of painting the last layer or you have a brilliant plan to make your entire army with a weathered stone scheme. It actually looks very similar to a scheme I saw one of the other members doing for his chapter (brass scorpions iirc). I think that if you remove the mold lines and pick up some washes to shade some of the deeper areas of the model and you're army'll be brilliant. It's not quite the color choices you usually see for fists, but go for it and slap the first person to tell you you're doing it wrong. And the second. There probably won't be a third after the first two. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188711-mah-crimson-fists/#findComment-2232952 Share on other sites
LardO'Blood
Thanks for the tips, where do you get your tiny brushes? I cant find anything smaller then 1 cm in width at the base of the bristles. I think the pictures make the drybrushing I attempted stand out a lot more then in actuality but yeah, I way overdid it on this marine, the rest of the squads drybrushing is a lot less prominent. I do plan on a weathered stone effect but even then there was way to much paint on my brush when I did this. General Ravensong
games workshop carries all sizes and shapes of brushes, but if you can't find your way to one of those I'm pretty sure most hobby stores will carry similar brushes, I suggest ones that come to a point. CosmicCreations
Good job so far, as for the brushes I get mine from my local Sussex Stationers, (although I'm not sure where you're from) however any stationery shop will do them, anything arty! Â I think if you get hold of some washes and a slightly larger choice of paints then you'll be raring to go :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188711-mah-crimson-fists/#findComment-2233195 Share on other sites
Capt. Lysander
If you are indeed doing it as a sort of stone-slabish colour, then good job! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188711-mah-crimson-fists/#findComment-2233246 Share on other sites
LardO'Blood
I finished the squad mostly, I know the sergeant doesn't look that great, its because he had to many details for me to paint with my current color pallet. I'm planning on going back when I get more colors and a thinner brush and revamping them all, I was rushing the last few marines. (Missile launcher, one bolter and the sergeant) Question: "What colors should I get for the marines weapons and for my dreadnoughts shiny (or rusty!) metal parts? (Citadel preferably?)" Heres the update: http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/7643/img1305.jpg http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/3183/img1307f.jpg http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/7539/img1308t.jpg http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/1232/img1309i.jpg http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/3533/img1311h.jpg Oh yeah does anyone have pictures of Crimson Fist terminators? I can't decide how to paint mine, if I paint the fists red only or if I also paint a shoulder pad or something. Looking at the pictures again I'm really disappointed with the sergeant. For some reason the eagle coming out of his backpack looks green?... :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188711-mah-crimson-fists/#findComment-2233440 Share on other sites
LardO'Blood
Finally did some more painting, I'm pretty proud of this guy, even if he was a pain in the :) to get transfers on. http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/6532/img1405a.jpg http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2290/img1406h.jpg http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/3749/img1407s.jpg http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/5835/img1416.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188711-mah-crimson-fists/#findComment-2253979 Share on other sites
