any tips on painting black fur?

I went with CB as base, and then drybrushed Adeptus Battlegrey on until satisfied. At last, I put on decent amounts of Badab Black. It looks fine to me :) .

maybe paint the fur with a 50/50 scorched brown chaos black mix.

drybrush with scorched brown and then drybrush with codex grey, fortress grey and finally a bit of either white or bleache bone (id go bone) moving towards the edges of the fur. with each colour drybrush less and lessof the fur that way you get a gradient to the colour (its brighter at the edges and darker in the middle).

maybe a wash of black/brown at he end before a very very light drybrush of your brightest colour that can be done across the whole of the pelt.

 

if you want i can try this out and post the pics as i normally paint light brown fur.

I undercoat it black, then put an old coat or two of flesh wash on it, and then drybrush black over it. Gets a lil brown in the recesses.

 

Of course, you could just paint it black too. *shrugs*.
