My very first army! (**UPDATED**)

Hey everyone, I'm working on my first army. I'm very new to 40K, I'm not a modeler or a painter. I know these things don't look nearly as good as most of the armies on here. I have a lot of work to do still. There's some paint where it's not supposed to be and you can still see some mold lines. Obviously I'm not finished, still need to do some detailing, but what do you guys think so far?

Also, I'm still kicking around a name for this army, so far I'm thinking maybe The SlobberKnockers. Any ideas?

Absolutely superb painter. With quality like this on your first models, I think you'll become a very good painter with time!

I like the colour scheme - simple, but effective!

Only thing I'd really say is the marine in the middle needs a bit more wash over the gold (groin and popliteal - back of knee - area). Otherwise, very nice indeed! I think I go a bit OTT on detailing, but as they're rank and file, don't worry too much. It's a bit better you get them done to a good standard and start using them. You can always add detail a bit later - that is unless you're in it for the painting/modeling!

Keep us updated!

Nice Work on the metallics! Personally, I'd make the chest eagles gold as well, but the technique is well executed. With the green and gold, make them a Salamanders successor chapter or Salamanders proper.

Man, I've been working on these guys so hard. I got home from work and the freaking dog chewed up 2 of my Termies and my Ork Warboss. I have the AoBR and now I'm short 2 termies and a warboss! Freaking blows!

I really like these models, they have a nice atmosohere to them....yes I know, it's hard to explain. I've recently come to like metallic space marines, and these are some real nice ones. I would however, suggest you apply a few more coats of gold, as some areas didn't seem to get completely covered. Other than that, I love 'em, keep it up!

Ok, I've gotten a little farther on my army. I have my Tac Squad pretty much done. Still want to do a little more to them like drilling the barrels and white in the eyes and stuff. Still need to base them too. I did start my Termies though. Not finished, but I thought I'd post what I've done so far. I've definitely noticed my quality is getting a lot better from just these few models. I've also painted the inside of my Land Raider, I'll get some pics of it. These things look REALLY nice in person, I was pretty proud of them.... until I took pictures. Man, they look pretty rough in the pics. I picked some out that didn't make my painting look too bad.

Now, remember when you're critiquing me, This is my first time, so be gentle.

Also, I think I've come up with a suitable name, The Emerald Wrath of Doom. How does that sound?

I like 'em. You should probably touch up around the eyes a little, and a light black wash might help (especially on the Terminator's helmet), but hey. They look pretty good, especially for some of your first miniatures.

The Emerald Wrath of Doom, unfortunately...sounds a little like a joke. It's trying a little too hard.

Doom Wraiths, maybe?

Metalics can sometimes look cheezy but you've done a great job with them. I have to agree with Octavulg on the name though. I'm not crazy about Emerald Wrath of Doom either. His suggestion is pretty cool or you could simplify your idea with something like Emerald Wrath or Emerald Doom.
