I don't play the Wolves...

So, as the title suggests, I do not play the Sons of Russ, but I simply adore their balls out fluff and hardcore face-smashing aspect. Is their codex worth buying for fluff and fun alone, and not, I repeat NOT for game play purposes? I can't afford to buy and build a brand new army, but I really want to get my hands on that codex. What say you, fang-ed and beard-ed brethren?

very much so yes. the new Codex has so mnay things "Wolf" moments in it that it is staggering that everybody hasnt fallen in love with the Wolves...some people must be dead inside.

quick edit: the SW book has 96 pages. the first 56 is background and unit descriptions consisting of awesomeness. only pages 81-94 cover stats alone, and pages 65-80 (model showcase pages) actually reveal some interesting tidbits too, likt the banners of certain great companies.

WLK

I want it, I really reeeaaalllllyyy do. I'm normally very dragon-y in character (hence my love of Salamanders and Alpha Legion, despite their draconian (I'm pretty sure that isn't how the word is meant to be used) names), but I love things wulfen as well. I want this codex hardcore, but I want people's honest opinion about it being cost effective for somebody who is likely going to just read it for fun and mental excitement. I have Kieran's, which I value highly. Who else wants to throw down-er I mean, who else wants to put in their opinion?
Oh yes, you should definitely get it. Not only for reasons already mentioned, but because it's always nice to 'know your enemy'. My father use to buy new codexs when they came out, just so he knew what to expect(and if his opponent was cheating/mistaken of course) and it's a practice I've taken to this day.

I bought the Codex because SWs rock. I had a wobble and thought about going Wolves, but I didn't.... Anyway, I love the way PK has written the stories. Sure some people got excited because it didn't fit in exactly how they thought the 40K universe should be, but I just soak up the stories.

My brother has been buying Codices for years and we haven't even played with them. We just love the fluff GW puts out.

*I think Dragon-esque is the word you wanted....

Snap! We do the same.
