Oldenhaller
as an all round unit twin plas and motw is one of the best build out there. Obviously it'll depend upon what you're liable to face, the rest of your army and how you intend to use them but that's a good basic load out ~O Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188822-first-grey-hunter-pack/#findComment-2234266 Share on other sites
CainTheHunter
I'd say melta, mark and wolf standard. And I'd recommend sticking in one power armourer Wolf Guard, because sooner or later You'll come back to this - modelling-wise it's better sooner than later ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188822-first-grey-hunter-pack/#findComment-2234270 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
what load out should I go for? one of the problems for newer players is there is just too many options 10 Strong. Then pick: Plasmaguns or Meltaguns; and a Powerfist or Powerweapon. Give everyone else a mixture of bolters, bolt pistols, and close combat weapons. Learn to use this basic squad in games with your buddies... then add in toys like standards, plasma pistols, and mark of the wulfen *wich I dislike personally*. A Razorback kit to use as a rhino makes a good partner to a squad like this, but theres nothing wrong with trying them out on foot or a DP as your first go either... they are three very different playstyles, and better/worse in different situations. Quillen
And always buy Razor backs. As you can use them as Rhinos or Razors just by changing the top access. I find a melta gun is always good to have. You will always run into something you need one for. Tank Monsterous creature. Strength 8 AP 1 adding a plus 1 to the chart is a big edge. Second weapon is all up to your play still. I always go Meltagun, Plasmagan, Plasma pistol and a power fists. Fists use to be way better. Now they sorta blow but you need them incase you get bogged down with a Carnifex or a Dreadnought. You have to have something that can bash it down. Problem is you get 1 swing after the first turn and it will miss half the time and fail to hurt 17% of those it hits. And then they made it cost 10 freaking points more. Makes me want to slap them. Indeed make one extremely wolf gaurd thou. This will help in the long run.
