Night Runner
I usually use Tallarn flesh as a base coat, it's one of the best tones around. Then add small quantities of burnt umber for shadows (lowlights), and burnt umber + black for deep shadows. For highlights add a very light flesh tone to Tallarn flesh. Try not to use white as it will render the face chalky. AcidBurn
personally i use: taleran flesh then devlan mud over it then drybrush a 50/50 mix of taleran flesh and skull white then a little highlight of skull white thats mainly on my characters or showcase minis. Normally i just leave out the last 2 stages Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188863-painting-faces-on-spaces-wovles/#findComment-2234778 Share on other sites
Natanael
I have found that a drybrush of tallarn flesh, followed by a heavy wash of scorced brown and then some highlights with tallars flesh if you like is a great way to make good-looking, easy and fast faces. Not golden daemon, but fast and easy. Just be sure to make a few test with the wash until you get a good thickness (or more like non-thickness, even tough you could have is quite thick. Medium is best :D) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188863-painting-faces-on-spaces-wovles/#findComment-2234842 Share on other sites
atrox_futurus
When I paint faces, I start with a scorched brown over the black undercoat. I then apply a 50/50 mix of scorched brown and graveyard earth, and on top of that a 50/50 mix of graveyard earth and elf flesh. Once this dries I use a healthy amount of ogryn flesh wash, and after that apply careful highlights using straight up elf flesh. Seems to work quite well for my models. CainTheHunter
Tallarn Flesh basecoat, then even coat of Vomit Brown, wash with Ogryn Flesh, then several highlights along the cheeks, eyebrows with Elf flesh. Looks like this Wolf Guard Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188863-painting-faces-on-spaces-wovles/#findComment-2235150 Share on other sites
nurglespuss
Dark flesh/elf flesh mix, add more elf flesh for high lights, wash with a very thinned red/dheneb wash. face Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188863-painting-faces-on-spaces-wovles/#findComment-2235154 Share on other sites
Commissar Volker
From a black undercoat I use Snakebite leather basecoat, elf flesh, then a flesh wash, then elf flesh highlights. Gives them a weather beaten look. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188863-painting-faces-on-spaces-wovles/#findComment-2235324 Share on other sites
stinkenheim
i use the method that was in WD a while back. Tallarn flesh basecoat. dark flesh wash scorched brown/chaos black wash 2:1:1 tallarn, fortress grey, bleached bone 1:1 tallarn, bleached bone straight bleached bone 1:1 regal blue/bleached bone under the eyes 1:1 scab red/bleached bone on the bottom lip skull white (although i use 2:1 skull/bleached) to add expressions to the face quite a long process but the results look really good. Arkaniss
Base coat Tallarn Flesh then Ogyrn Flesh wash it. I then gently go over it with elf flesh. It's basically a dry brush I guess but it lightens the skin tone and picks out raised areas like the cheeks and nose. I usually paint the bottom lip dwarf flesh and then do things like the eyebrows, hair and eyes etc... Simple but it's given me the best faces I've ever done!
