Thunderpup
This is probably a simple question, but... If a Dreadnought loses it's Close Combat Weapon, do it's Str6 attacks still ignore armor saves? Thanks, Pup Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188907-dreadnoughts/ Share on other sites
stinkenheim
no, the only reason a dreadnaught ignores armour is because of its DCCW. its although worth noting that by destroying the CCW your opponent has also destroyed the built in weapon (either flamer of stormbolter) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188907-dreadnoughts/#findComment-2235339 Share on other sites

Spazmonkey
its although worth noting that by destroying the CCW your opponent has also destroyed the built in weapon (either flamer of stormbolter) Really? What if the bolter of flamer is chest/body mounted like on some FW models? What if the bolter of flamer is chest/body mounted like on some FW models? Yea... I'm thinking the same thing. But even for the arm mounted weapons, it says "weapon" destroyed not "body part." This reminds me of the time someone tried to claim that a weapon destroyed result on a tau skyray could remove the whole turret (6 seeker missiles and 2 markerlights). On a similar note, alot of IG vehicles can have stubbers on top of turrets - I don't think a single weapon destroyed result would destroy both the main weapon and the stubber. SamaNagol
The DCCW comes with a 'built in' storm bolter, and as such count as one weapon. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188907-dreadnoughts/#findComment-2235918 Share on other sites

stinkenheim
p 73 BRB in the box called 'Dreadnaught Close Combat Weapons; Walkers are often armed with huge close combat weapons- hammers, wrecking balls, claws etc. A DCCW is a power weapon (NOT fist for people who argue that it should strike at I 1, and there are some out there) and doubles the walkers strength in CC (up to 10). If the walker suffers a weapon destroyed result and the player chooses the CCW, the walker loses the bonuses conferred by the DCCW (and any other weapon built into the same arm) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/188907-dreadnoughts/#findComment-2235981 Share on other sites
