Idealist fools?

I was just reading a post on here by a Chaos user that was written in character. So refering to the "Corpse God" and false god etc. Now as a Servant of the emperor (cough cough) I wonder, how long do you think the chaos Primarchs or even their lackeys clung to the kind of sadly misdirected idealism?

How long before the sinster claws of chaos gained a purchase outside of their minds, twisting their idealism finally into outright bloodied visons of chaos? (This post can also serve as a witness of how in character can go a bit far  )

For example, when did Horus' fury at the Emperor's percieved betrayal turn to lust for power? Did Primarchs like Perturabo or the Night Haunter ever have any motivation beyond their personal chips on shoulders?

Have you read any of the novels. They go into this a little bit. Some of the Primarchs haven't gotten coverage yet though.

Yeah I've read...I think all the HH books. Fulgrim is never really idealistic, he's just not happy that the Emperor didn't trust him with his "plans". Horus is gone by the time of Istvaan virus bombs. He's said to be running his hands in the blood and laughing. Lion, well we hope he's loyal <_< Luther seems to so far be idealistic
