So did the SW FAQ answer your questions?

I just saw that SW got an FAQ now for the 5th edtion codex. So did it answer all your quesitons? I am shocked for a new codex that there is 6 pages. Was there that many mistakes made or just written poorly? Is there still some rules that are not covered in the FAQ that should have been in there?

Just curious too see what you guys think.

Wolf Lord and Battle Leader have access to Frost Blades and Axes while in Terminator Armor? Cleared up the whole 'high king while coming in from reserves' debacle with the choice I thought was the correct one? It rocks!

I found the new Driving Gale and Living Hurricane stuff to be the most interesting, because I had never thought of that. It gives me new ideas now.

EDIT: For those asking about it, it is where all GW errata is. Here is the link: http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_Custom...paceWolves_2009

My favorite one is the question about outflanking and IC, they totally missed the mark in what people are asking.

Q. Can an Independent Character that has

joined a Wolf Scouts pack outflank? What about

if he has the Saga of the Hunter?

A. No he cannot. He can only join an outflanking

unit if he has the ability to outflank because of

the Saga of the Hunter.

We knew we can only get outflanking by having SotH, what we want to know is can we BEL with that said IC. Bahhh!

Somewhat disappointed in the Rockfist Stubburn ruling, though the issue being settled is nice.

At least they did a pretty good job at answering most of our questions. Though I think they needed another 6 pages to get them all.

Real glad they came out with the High King answers before the IGT next week.

Glad to know that I can take a WGBL with my scout pack now. I would say he could OBEL because he is part of the "unit" when he enters play and the rule says "if a wolf scout unit makes use of its outflank...."

To me it is no different then drop podding in a wolf priest with a grey hunter pack. They are attached and come into play together and the IC is considered part of the unit unless you move him more then 2" away.

I find it quite interesting that a certain Lukas' stasis field will affect a Warlord titan. Presumably it would then also have a similar effect on, say, a Hierophant or a similar beast too?

Finally! No more arguments about thunderwolves toughness value for instant death!

Sadly they didnt mention strength specifically but let hope we can put that to rest similarly (please start a different thread if you feel like arguiing the point)

Yeah that weapon answer left me with questions as well. I think they were trying to address an older issue about taking a flammer for free as your first weapon and say a PG for free as well for your second choice. If that is the case the question needs some rewording.

Vrox.

To the outflank Scouts question, I figure if it's still RAW then they can choose only the two side table edges...

Otherwise a very nice FAQ, makes taking Ragnar with my BC's coming out of the LRC make sense as I can only get 2 or 3 bonus attacks. Very glad about this ruling.

And the TWC, once they get models for them I may field some even if they would be near 700 points, 5 with SS's and a WL tooled out sounds interesting to me, S6, T5 and Bear saga would make the unit rather hard to deal with, though I would have to be careful with the odd S10 wpn...

I'm quite pleased to read this, though WG not being able to join Skyclaws still irks me slightly. Must be intended as a WG Jump unit option to take packs then...

Ok not to sound dumb but, I assume on the first page on the FAQ where it say's "Page 84, Wolf Lord, Options, ffifth bullet point change -power fist....10 points, to -power fist, frost blade or frost axe.... 10 points" this is for the terminator armor section? which would mean we can use frost blades with the terminator armor?

LOL helps if I read what was said earlier.

It's sad that they needed 6 pages of FAQs when if they'd playtested the codex for a week in the real world all these issues could have been identified and resolved (or if they maintained an official rules resolution forum where issues like this could be raised and officiated). Shows the slovenly attitude they take towards rules quality, and 'eventually' fixing the rules hardly excuses it.
I raise a tankard of ale to GW for this one. They have done a quality job.

And I have suspicion that they peeked on our own SW FAQ both once and twice :)

Where else would they go for sound SW advise if not the Fang. :D

Seconded. I'll have to remember the WL in Termy armor getting access to Frost blades/axes from now on. That sounds like fun too, along with all the above I mentioned.

I think they answered this when they talked about Pack leaders joining a unit of Scouts can outflank and BEL. Their reasoning is because he becomes part of the pack. "Yes to all of the above, because the Wolf Guard Pack Leader is not an Independent character..."

Although I never had a stance on whether WGPL's should be able to join a unit of Sky Claws it is nice to have the ruling on that. I can see either side of the story fluffwise.

Edit: Overall, yes I am pleased with the FAQ. 6 pages did take awhile to read. But they clarified everything. Even the questions that could be answered by COMMON SENSE. And I am very happy for all the fellas who wanted Frost Blade available for HQ's in TDA. congrats. TWM was clarified well too. I think its safe to say that the strength increase plus power fist is played the same as toughness. It would be Strength 10, not strength nine.
