wizard12
OK, just finished this guy and the painting shall start some time later this year. My only nag about this guy is that his pose is slightly static. I thought about adding a flowing cape on hi back and I still might do so but I just fear my GS skills are too terrible. so here he is. Front side back (wow there a lot to see there) diagonal shot C&C welcome. bear in mind I cannot change the pose he's in and yes, I will drill his gun before painting Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189228-ultramarines-honour-guard/ Share on other sites
smallvictory
I think his pose is fine, not every model needs to be leaping into battle cape flowing in the wind. He looks like he is calmly dealing bolter death. Make sure to kill those mold lines on the helmet and bolter before it's too late. aekold
looking great. Is the spear made from the command squad banner arm? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189228-ultramarines-honour-guard/#findComment-2240282 Share on other sites
jlmb_123
The pose is great: it actually looks like he's weighing the weight of his sword/lance against that of his aiming arm. I'd leave a cloak off, it'd push the model too far into the realm of OTT fantasy, and this guy is evidently a no-frills fighter. Terminatorinhell
Yeah leave the cape of, he looks like a guy who actually means business! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189228-ultramarines-honour-guard/#findComment-2240330 Share on other sites
ephrael
Yeah leave the cape of, he looks like a guy who actually means business! I agree that the pose is quite good. The spear offsets the bolter very well. I would suggest adding something to the spear though as it looks a little too plain. Maybe a purity seal or strip of cloth where the blade meets the shaft. That would be relatively simple to make and would add some character to the weapon. Capt. Lysander
The pose is really good. If you're worried of making a big cape, why not a small and tattered one- to display he's a veteran?
