morkai's fang
it is to my understanding that inquisitor gregor eisenhorn is an ordo xenos inquisitor right? this might be a stupid question but being ordo xenos why is he dealing with heretics and chaos in the books (i am halfway through xenos) isnt that for the ordo malleus. so far the book is incredible though Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189229-eisenhorn-question/ Share on other sites
Inquisitor Fox
You are correct, he is an Inquisitor who is a member of the Ordo Xenos. However, he is an Inquisitor first, and a member of Ordo Xenos second. That is to say, all the Inquisitors are sort of wandering Texas Rangers, who deal with any and all threats to the Imperium as they discover them. He may specialize and have particular expertise with Xenos, but he certainly isn't going to wander into a Chaos Cult and go "Oh, my bad.. I thought you were Eldar. Let me dial my buddy using my "Phone A Friend" and let him come clean you all out. Toodles!" :D Remember also that Inquisitors move between the Ordos during their career! Think of the Ordos more as after-school interest clubs, or groups of people with common expertise. It's really just a social network within the Inquisition itself. Sorta like an ordo facebook then? :) Oh thats given me an idea, now i just need a web development team. I guess its like any organisation, you fight whats in your way and it might not be who your usually up against. Chengar Qordath
You are correct, he is an Inquisitor who is a member of the Ordo Xenos. Let me dial my buddy using my "Phone A Friend" and let him come clean you all out. Toodles!" :) It also bears mentioning that Inquisitors often can't tell what sort of threat they're dealing with at first. When Inquisitors start investigating an odd cult it might be a while before they can tell if they're dealing with Chaos cultists, a more generic heresy centered around a rogue psyker, or a Genestealer cult. By the time an inquisitor has much solid intel on a cult they're comitted to fighting the cult, even if its not in their normal area of expertise. There's also plenty of potential for overlap between Ordos; for example, a group of chaos cultists interested in an alien artifact that can turn ordinary humans into psykers. Going off the Eisenhorn books, there are also some people who are basically freelance cultists more interested in the causing anarchy, killing people, and taking whatever plunder they can than they are in any sort of cause. People like that might draw the interest of all three ordos over the course of their career as they bounce between different cults and organizations.
