Ive enjoyed it. Im still sad we dont have a second special close combat weapon in our squads, and still not liking MotWs widespread presence, but I suppose it all works out.

The extra 1200pts Ive added to my army is enjoying the new book as well. *sighs*. And its getting painted, like all my armies, slowly, when I have the time.

Edit: Id trade TWC, and TWMs, for Venerable Dreadnaughts as an HQ choice, even just the ol 0-1 special. A VenDread was my first HQ, and featured in almost every list I took... things just arent the same without him. Fun, just not the same.

I have got a good 1000-1500 point army going. As for it being painted I have 2 full grey hunter packs, wolf lord, and land speeder done. I learned alot new tricks with magnets. I have my wolf guard both power/termie armour my HQs are done the same way. I even figured out a way to magnetize my rhinos so can use them as either rhino, razerback, whirlwind, predator.

Did the same with my land speeders.

I got all my new stuff painted up, the only problem is it looked so much better than my old minis that I decided to strip down about 2000 points worth of hunters, claws, terminators, and dreads to bring them up to snuff. Getting better at painting has proven to be a real pain lol

ive got 10 blood claws

10 grey hunters

a pack of long fangs and three rhinos/razorbacks fully painted as well as ragnar to lead them

2nd pack of grey hunters about three quarters done should be finished by sunday then onto my dreadnought or wolf gaurd adn special charcters, cant decide which

still not played though

not been well enough but going to start going to a gaming club this week

my aim for the year is to play 52 games before 2011

I've got:

Three squads of Grey Hunters, one squad of Scouts, five Terminators, and one Predator all sitting in boxes.

One squad of Grey Hunters/Wolf Guard assembled, but only three painted.

Two rhinos assembled and primed. One Land Raider half painted. One Drop Pod assembled, but unprimed.

I have a tendency to assemble everything and then procrastinate on painting them so I'm forcing myself to assemble and then paint by squad. Its slower going and I haven't gotten in a game with my Space Wolves yet, but it keeps my shelf from looking like a wall of black.

Still, mighty shameful.

what i have assembled-

10 grey hunters

10 grey hunters

10 blood claws

7 wolf guard

drop pod

wolf lord

Njal

5 long fangs

lone wolf

5 scouts

Painted-

10 grey hunters

2 wolf guard

:) seems i need to catch up on the painting a little bit Eh?

Currently I keep switching between squads, swept up in the idea of starting new models and making them look amazing.

I've made a few scouts about 4 Bloodclaws, 4 Grey Hunters, 1 Wolf Guard, literally just assembled 1 Long Fang.

And the crowning jewl of what I've made so far, my Wolf Priest. They're all in different stages of painting, but they do for now.

Really hoping for a new model of Ragnar some time.

Its not a bad model, don't get me wrong, I just think he needs a new one.

One thing I will say though, Ragnar with a squad of Grey Hunters, in my case, 9, are amazing, give one a power weapon and they can tear down so much.

One little incident is, Rangar and squad took down, 3 Nob Bikers, a squad of Boyz with Warboss, and another squad with Nob leader, and still Ragnar and three remained.

I got all my new stuff painted up, the only problem is it looked so much better than my old minis that I decided to strip down about 2000 points worth of hunters, claws, terminators, and dreads to bring them up to snuff. Getting better at painting has proven to be a real pain lol

Yeah, I know how you feel- For the first 8 years of hobbying I didnt put a finish coat on my models. Once theyd chipped to a particular degree I knew it was time to paint again... and so my eldar *7Kish* collection has been painted like six-eight times.

I'm still at buying/assembling/painting stage now the codex is out, after waiting 10yrs (no, really!). Just bought a Battle Force set and a Land Raider Redeemer last weekend. Land Raider is about 2/3 converted to Pre-Heresy at the moment (gonna be sick!). I actually have very little finished other than two dreads and 5 Skyclaws I've had since 3rd, plus the odd WG and an Iron Priest :) .

Also have to assemble;

5 TWC, including a Wolf Lord

5 Scouts

15 Long Fangs + Leaders

1 Drop Pod

10 WG in PA

10 WG in TDA

3 Attack Bikes

On order/planned;

8 Bikes

10 WG in TDA

Whirlwind

Vindicator

2 Razorbacks

1 Rhino

1 Drop Pod

And maybe another Land Raider

Assembled but need to finish painting;

15 WG in TDA

15 Blood Claws

2 RPs

2 WPs

Rifleman Dread

. . . . actually that looks like a **** load now I've written it down, oh dear lol :) ;) lovin it tho :D

Well I am very slowly repainting over 8000 points of space wolves from the old frosty blue to a more dark gray, so far I have the one grey hunter I did as a test

model and Logan done. My biggest problem is redoing my squads and bringing them up to what the new dex allows for weapons.

One thing I miss is the twelve PF attacks we used to get with a Blood claw pack.

I still have the same 5000 pts from before , but added about 20 or so scouts (maybe it was 30....I have to go an recount) pulled out my attack bike squadrons, added 5 Thunderwolves, 15 wolf guard terminators, 20 fenrisian wolves and made a new Ragnar from the new SW box. Some is painted but most isn't.

Slowly as usual. I have a 2000 pt list, but I'm a list guy, and fortunately and unfortunately Phil K. made this dex even more varied, so it is the bane of list builder addicts like myself. ( a good bane!). I can really see the value in GH heavy lists with 3 x rhino backed by 3 small packs with razors (las/plas, or Heavy Flamer with flamer packs and WG with combi flamer backing up the larger packs.

I'm focused on sticking to my latest list though. Most of it is assembled just need to put together a whirlie, one more rhino and find bits for two TWLC turrets for my two HB razorbacks. Everything needs to be de molded.

I'm going to see if someone will let me test it before I get to far along hobby wise.

This is what's modeled:

30 Grey Hunters

5 Wolf Guard in TDA (Need to order new magnets, otherwise done)

5 Wolf Guard in Power Armor

1 Wolf Lord

1 Rune Priest

6 Scouts

This is what's in my possession but not built yet:

2 Dreadnoughts

1 Land Raider Crusader

1 Vindicator (I'm not allowed to open it till my girlfriend returns...)

This is what's on the horizon to buy/scratch build:

1 Vindicator

7 Rhino Chassis

30 Grey Hunters

1-3 Land Speeders

This is what's painted:

0

Well this is what I have that's battle ready;

2 Wolf Lords

5 Wolf Guard

8 Scouts

5 Long Fangs

3 Swift Claws

50 Grey Hunters

20 Blood Claws

2 Dreadnoughts

1 Vindicator

1 Land Raider

2 Predators

1 Land speeder

All to be re-painted, with Russ knows lots and lots and lots of other models that need to be salted out, assembled, or found.

And finally I miss Vortex grenades, Vortex grenades and more Vortex grenades, plus my wargear cards that say Vortex grenades

I'm all set to field 2500 pts of primer marines :tu:

In fact since the new codex I have decided to not do a DIY Company but instead will follow Erik Morkai. So I actually had to strip down a couple of the marines that I did have painted. I left a squad of Greyhunters as is because their colors match my one painted Rhino and my dreadnought. There rest will get the new color scheme.

I have around 5000 points bare bones (no wargear options) and can probably climb to a good 7000 with wargear options..

My army has never been painted, but I have made an oath, to earn myself Saga of the painter ( self commitment to getting at least a full 1500 painted).

I have always wanted to play wolves, and was growing tired of the less characterful SM codex quickly, so I am very happy with the new 'dex.

As far as tricks, the easiest and most applicable is spamming Grey Hunters in Drop Pods. Drop Pod Assault is a very competitive rule with this trick, as landing half of your army, most likely all troops in the first turn is plain scary.

I started 40k a month after the codex and so far have. 40 grey hunters,15 termies,3 rhinos, land raider,6 long fangs, custom wolfpriest, custom runpriest and a dread.Pretty good considering i have no desire to play anywhere above 2k really, the thought of it just does not appeal to me. So all i need is like 4 t wolves and im done....forever....i swear.... Anyways all but the tanks are atleast basecaoted so look ok on the table.

Well, I too miss having 2 fists in my packs. I hate that my pack has to be 10 to get a second special weapon. Serveral things I just can not stand.

I too find mark of the wulfen in every pack well stupid. Yet you have to have it to keep the Close Combat edge.

I actually like the Thunder Wolf Cav. I find them over priced and their lack of twinking a pain.

I know have 6 Grey Hunter packs, 1 Blood Claw pack, 30 Wolf Gaurd in Power Armor, and 40 Wolf Gaurd in termy armor, about 15 heavy weapons, 3 preds (inter changeable), 2 Land Raider Crusaders, 30 Swift claw bikes 2 Attack bikes, 3 Speeders, and 11 drop pods. All brand new. To go with way too many models I had before.

Not lots painted, about 40 power armored marines painted, and half a dozen scouts.

Tons half way through painting... including a large pile of vehicles. Too much to count!

As for the rules...

I've found that Grey Hunters are, without a doubt, the best unit we can field. I usually go with 7 grey hunters, melta, power fist, and a wolf guard with a combi-melta and power fist. mounted in a rhino or drop pod, works FANTASTIC. I've never been let down by it, and I field at least 3 of these units.

Single thunderwolf cavalry models with storm shield/thunderhammer... do not leave home without them. They draw an enormous amount of fire, and survive against the odds. T5 W2 and 3+/3+ save is one hell of a brick wall for many armies, and it's cheap. I run with 3 of these in most games.

Rune Priests with wolf tail talisman are great, living lightning is the best ability we have for them, no question. Mix it up with tempests' wrath and jaws for those specific armies you may face, deep strikers or low i models. I rarely leave home without 2 rune priests in my list.

Cheap missile launcher longfangs are the way to go. It doesn't hurt too bad if they get shot, and when teamed up with a living lightning rune priest, the enemy is nearly forced to shoot at them, and you still have some strong close combat capabilities to hold up your rear.

The changes were pretty drastic for me, I hadn't played much since early 4th edition, and regained interest when I heard about the new SW codex back in August I believe. Picked up a few rhinos and some drop pods, and haven't been happier. The lack of unit CC domination was annoying. I miss my 4 power fist bloodclaw units screaming out of drop pods.

I've adjusted well though, and my new "standard" list seems to be doing very well for me. I miss the HQ choice Dread, and the SW statline for it's venerable... annoyed with the lack of a lone attack bike, and lack of an ironclad option... but we're still the sharpest fang of the Imperium.
