Wolf Lord/Guard Loadout Post-FAQ

Alright, so now that a Wolf Lord can take a frost weapon, thanks to the spiffy new FAQ, I'm torn on how to load out my Wolf Lord and his 4 Wolf Guard all in TDA.

 

I was planning on making them and assault unit and my original loadout was the Lord with 2xWolf Claws & Belt of Russ, 2xWG with Thunderhammer/Storm Shield, and 2xWG with Frost Weapon/Storm Shield.

 

Now I'm thinking about giving the Lord the FW w/SS and the two WG that I was planning on giving FW's the 2xWolf Claws.

 

 

Any input, suggestions, or ideas on this?

It's still the case that runic armour and a frostblade are the better combination for the Wolf Lord.

 

Frostblades get an automatic +1 attack for the bolt pistol that the wielder comes with. It's only with weapons that require duplication that there's a benefit to taking to terminator armour, and then it's better if you're relying solely on the terminator armour's own invulnerable save. If you're buying two wolf claws, terminator armour and a belt of Russ, then twin wolf claws, runic armour and a belt of Russ do exactly the same thing with less compromise.

Terminator Armour, Storm Shield and Frost Axe costs exactly the same as Runic Armour, Storm Shield and Frost Axe. And Runic Armour gives a 5+ dispel. And retains Sweeping Advance.

 

But Terminators look better. :ph34r:

I was planning on using GK terminators as a base for converting runic armor - then you get the benefit of a cool looking unit - with cool looking armor.

But Terminators look better. :)

and that is the 1 and only thing that really matters, effectiveness is not important compared to looks.
