Shaun Carlin Posted January 9, 2010 Share Posted January 9, 2010 I made a custom space hulk Campaign revolving around the Deathwing and Im posting it here for all to enjoy, if you do not have Deathwing models its fine to use any other ones you have. Above the planet Balthon II a sprawling hive world on the edge of Imperial space a Strike Cruiser of the Dark Angels Looms. The Deathwing have made their way here following a report from the Ravenwing of a mysterious Black hooded figure seen around the city which has the distinctive silhouette of a space marine in power armour, this cannot be ignored and the Deathwing await confirmation of their target from the Ravenwing below, they ready their weapons each remembering the importance of the mission that is to come. As if some force conspires against them a large space hulk emerges from the unknown depths of the warp and is on a collision course with Balthon II below, The Strike Cruisers weapons prove to be ineffective at destroying the hulk either by firing off course or failing to make a dent in its outer hull. The Master of the Deathwing Belial quickly assesses the situation and gathers his finest warriors to counter attack the hulk in order to change its course from the inside, if they could make their way to the control room then they can reverse the engines or stop it altogether, failing that detonation from the inside my be an option that may present itself after further investigation, time was a factor so to prevent the planets destruction and their quarry from avoiding justice, the Deathwing face a great challenge for the sake of their honour and the People of Balthon II they cannot fail.. Mission 1 Hornets nest In order to launch an assault on the space hulk Belial knew that they would need a full tactical readout of its schematics and systems. The initial scans could show little but the surface a full read out was needed the first thing on the agenda was to access the main computer of the hulk that was detected, from there they can send all the information they need back to the Strike cruiser nearby. However large life sign readings were showing up on the scanner also and judging by the numbers this mission was going to be like entering a hornets nest, Belial would lead his men in the mission to assure its success Forces and Deployment: Space Marines: The space marine player Has 2 squads. Squad A consists of Sergeant with Storm bolter and power sword Space marine with storm bolter and chainfist, Storm bolter and power fist x2 and Assault cannon and power fist. Squad B is the same as squad A.* A terminator captain is placed on the spot on the map.* Genestealers: The Genestealer player begins the game with no blips but receives 3 reinforcement blips per turn, blips may enter play at any area. Special rules: Captain: The space marine captain is a powerful leader and is a formidable close combat fighter, he follows the rules for space marine sergeants also he rolls 3 dice and takes the highest result in combat (remember he counts as a sergeant model so plus 1 to the result as normal) His leadership on the field is of great use to the space marines with him in addition to be able to re draw command points (remember sergeant) He adds plus 1 to how many command points the player may use to a maximum of 6 for example if the space marine player draws 4 he can use 5. Deathwing: Deathwing terminators are known to never falter in battle often preferring to die than take a step back in the face of the enemy to show this all terminators that are Deathwing can go into Guard mode for 1 action point instead of the normal 2 to represent how stubborn they are. Victory: The Space marine player wins if a space marine player enters the objective room marked on the map. The Genestealer player wins if he kills all the terminator models and the captain. http://i48.tinypic.com/289ittu.jpg Designers notes: *Not everyone has Deathwing models this mission may be played with the normal space marine models that come with space hulk simply ignore the Deathwing rule and play as normal. *Not everyone may have the weapon load outs mentioned for the squads, you may alter the weapons to what models you have available as a rule of thumb only one sergeant heavy weapon and chain fist per squad. *The captain model I use has a storm bolter and power sword feel free to use you own terminator captain model and follow the rules of the weapons in the space hulk booklet, if he wears lightning claws his attacks are unchanged but he may re rolls all his combat dice. *Some players may not want to use the experimental Captain rules he can be removed from the game if you wish move the door next to him into the blue space on the map if you do so and reduce the amount of blips the Genestealer player gets per turn to 2 I hope you enjoy let me know what you think I already have in mind what the mission after this will be and the fluff behind it if this gets enough interest then I will post more and we can play out the whole story :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189250-space-hulk-campaign/ Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have no idea if the special Captain or Deathwing special rules you've devised are overpowered or not but it's great to see this kind of creative thinking applied nonetheless. Now with the necessary Intel gathered Belial was able to plot a course from his current location to the engine control room. The pathway was not an easy or straightforward one. "Has there been any word received back from the Ravenwing operatives? Has the target been located? said Belial into the comm bead of his ancient terminator suit once resplendent in bone white colour of the Deathwing but now covered in alien scum and ichor, "None yet brother captain we are still awaiting confirmation" said Brother Harachel. "Then there is one path that fate has left open to us" said Belial. The single corridor that remains passable used to be a habitation deck for the crew of an ancient and forgotten ship, they used to walk down this corridor after getting a few hours sleep in their cramped sleeping quarters ready to resume work in the name of the Emperor, now the rooms no longer hold exhausted men and women but alien horrors from the void. It took some of the finest warriors of the Imperium of man to achieve it. "There are hundreds of them, multiple contacts on the scanners from all directions Captain" said Sergeant Sariel with steely calm honed with centuries of service fighting the horrors of the galaxy. "Noted Sariel, Harachel are we nearing the emergency protocol rooms?” said Belial "Yes Brother captain they are just ahead, updating your map...now, I am detecting a large amount of life signals heading in your direction I think they know what you're planning” Said Harachel "To think of these creatures as mere beasts would be a mistake we can ill afford, they have a dark intelligence and are moving against us” said Belial. The rooms in question must be destroyed the emergency protocol rooms, while ships move through the darkness of the warp a bubble of reality is maintained around the ship for protection, but the foul creatures of the warp can whisper into the dreams and hearts of men, in the event of daemonic influence or possession upon the ship the protocol will activate sealing the habitation decks to contain the tainted and spare the innocent until a time where they can be purged or processed accordingly, If the Dark Angels seal the decks and then destroy the controls they can trap the aliens inside their dark chambers. "There’s every chance they will find a way out of this trap after we seal them inside but it will buy us time to get to the engine room” said Belial The Deathwing must split into 2 groups and each one must be an army in his own right to fight off attackers on all sides.. Brother Harachel from aboard the strike cruiser analyses the results of the mission and his face turns to a stern expression.."Brother Captain the emergency protocol has...succeeded" From his tone Belial knew something was amiss, "Are they making their way through ventilation ducts? it will still slow them down" Said Belial into the comm bead "It seems that the doors haven’t just sealed around the habitation deck but through the remaining sectors of the ship, and it cannot be reversed because you destroyed the controls to prevent the enemy from freeing themselves" said Harachel. If Belial did not live in such a terrible era then he would have cursed this misfortune, the 41st millennium was a dark and near hopeless place so something like this isn’t out of the ordinary. "Very well we have still bought the time we set out to get, but it means we must cut through the path ahead quickly in order to make best use of it, Brothers Micah and Raziel to the front, carve the way with the chain fists" said Belial already moving towards the next sector. "The Genestealers are climbing through the ventilation shafts they are taking a round about way to get to you" Harachel said to Belial to keep him updated "They will come in piece meal at first but before long you'll be swamped, you must not waste any moments get to the service elevator on the east side as fast as you can, I’m marking it on your display” said Harachel. The noise of thousands of claws echoed from the depths of the ship getting closer and closer the shrieking and clawing the sound getting louder and louder and the heavy thudding of terminator boots growing faster the high pitched whine of the chain fists cutting the way to salvation.. Forces and Deployment: Space Marines: The space marine player Has 2 squads. Squad A consists of Sergeant with Storm bolter and power sword Space marine with storm bolter and chainfist, Storm bolter and power fist x2 and Assault cannon and power fist. Special rules: Lockdown: The doors have all been sealed locking you in with a swarm of aliens getting closer and closer, All doors in this mission follow the rules for being jammed in the space hulk booklet Captain: The space marine captain is a powerful leader and is a formidable close combat fighter, he follows the rules for space marine sergeants also he rolls 3 dice and takes the highest result in combat (remember he counts as a sergeant model so plus 1 to the result as normal) His leadership on the field is of great use to the space marines with him in addition to be able to re draw command points (remember sergeant) He adds plus 1 to how many command points the player may use to a maximum of 6 for example if the space marine player draws 4 he can use 5. Shaun Carlin Posted January 11, 2010 Author Share Posted January 11, 2010 Mission 5 Bowels of the beast "Cassiel there to your right!" barked Sergeant Sariel, Cassiel turned in the nick of time firing his storm bolter at a genestealer just seconds before it was going to pounce on him. "Brother Haamiah over watch on the corridor, board the elevator now brothers!" Said Belial not shouting out of panic or fear but to have his voice heard over the noise of bolter fire and the screaming of aliens. One by one the terminators boarded the elevator Brother Haamiah only turning to enter after his assault cannon ran out of rounds and for a reprieve from the aliens attack. The old metal was tortured by the weight of the terminators that were inside it, and it began to move ponderously downward into the darkness of another ship, space hulks are formed of many different ships smashed or blended together by the unknown powers of the warp so it was like entering another ship entirely but still part of the whole that is the space hulk, still hurtling towards the planet below ready to destroy 30 billion lives. Sergeant Tabbris looked at the warriors of his squad and all of them had seen better days, their armour was torn or punctured, with loose cables and covered in alien blood. Belial heard some static crackling over the comms with some distorted voice, after some minor adjustment " ...prepare for ....pact" it was Harachel but not much could be made out of it. Just then the elevator shook violently the lights flickered on and off again, "By the lion what was that" said Zadkiel The sound of crumbling and bursting pipes could be heard from all around and a large loud groaning sound could be heard all around them like being inside a giant hungry creature. "Harachel? what’s going on? Report! Harachel!" Belial tried to raise him on the comms "Brother captain what is your status?" said Harachel "We are currently descending via the service elevator and something seems to have shaken it, was there a gas explosion?" said Beilal "Negative, Balthon II's Planetary defence force has opened fire on the space hulk, they know its going to hit the planet" said Harachel "They are having the same problems we have had, some sort of ancient void shield is protecting the hulk" said Harachel. The conversation was broken by the sound of metal being torn and loud shrieking noises "Contact from above!" shouted Tabbris Forces and Deployment: Space Marines: The space marine player Has 2 squads. Squad A consists of Sergeant with Storm bolter and power sword Space marine with storm bolter and chainfist, Storm bolter and power fist x2 and Assault cannon and power fist. Squad B is the same as squad A.* A terminator captain is placed on the spot on the map.* The terminators may be placed anywhere in the starting square and facing any direction, think carefully as there will not be much room to manoeuvre after set up. Genestealers: The Genestealer player begins the game with 2 blips and receives 2 reinforcement blips per turn, blips may enter play at any area. Special rules: Elevator: The first few turns of the mission is to ride the elevator down place your models in the first starting position and after 5 turns inside the elevator map place all survivors in the second starting position. To represent the sudden attack from all sides via broken vent pipes the genestealers in this mission do not need to lurk even if a terminator is within 6 spaces of an entry point. The terminators may not close the doors in this mission or walk through them. (The rules regarding lurking and doors refer only to the elevator map after the terminators have spent 5 turns in there they are repositioned on the other map and resume play as normal like its a new mission, except ammo is not replaced and any genestealers left over are removed, consided trapped) Captain: The space marine captain is a powerful leader and is a formidable close combat fighter, he follows the rules for space marine sergeants also he rolls 3 dice and takes the highest result in combat (remember he counts as a sergeant model so plus 1 to the result as normal) His leadership on the field is of great use to the space marines with him in addition to be able to re draw command points (remember sergeant) He adds plus 1 to how many command points the player may use to a maximum of 6 for example if the space marine player draws 4 he can use 5. "We move into the next sector and beyond this will lie the engine control room for the hulk, re-arm yourselves for the next battle" said Belial. "Harachel to Belial do you read me?" "Yes I read you loud and clear Harachel go ahead" "Sammael of the Ravenwing has reported in he said for me to tell you that the target is confirmed and they are in pursuit". Silence fell over the Terminators, they all knew what Sammael meant and they know that the longer they stay in the hulk the more chance that their quarry will get away but if they leave, the hulk will destroy the planet. "Harachel you are to relay these orders, 3 Deathwing units that are on standby are to lock onto Sammaels signal and deep strike onto the surface at once, under Sammaels command until further notice" Said Belial "Men lets move we have no time" Belial said unlocking the door seal.. Shaun Carlin Posted January 16, 2010 Author Share Posted January 16, 2010 Mission 7 Engine Control Room There wasn’t a single moment to lose, there was indeed a Fallen Dark Angel on the planet below and Belial could not let this side errand stop him from performing the duty that he has lead the 1st company in for centuries. In order to stop the wrong hands from interfering with the engines there was a security measure that the Dark Angels had to bypass, the controls could only be accessed by disabling the door that allows entry to the consol. The shut off switch was deeper into the area and Belial would have to carefully divide his forces in order to get the job done. "Forgive me Captain but could we not simply use the chain fists to cut through?" said Brother Raziel thinking he was being helpful, "It’s surrounded in an energy field that would make it impossible" countered Harachel. The map data was uploaded to the Dark Angels for the following sector. "This Sector is a complete mess.. the bombardment from the PDF forces are certainly making our job more interesting" remarked Sergeant Sariel. There were all sorts of areas the Genestealers could use to make their way towards the terminators from collapsed walls and shattered ceilings. "If the journey is easy the destination is worthless, we the angels of death of the chapters 1st walk the most difficult paths and as such the greatest of outcomes, let us carry the Emperors’ torch into this dark place and see this mission through" Said Belial and in return his terminators roared a battle cry. Forces and Deployment: Space Marines: The space marine player Has 2 squads. Squad A consists of Sergeant with Storm bolter and power sword Space marine with storm bolter and chain fist, Storm bolter and power fist x2 and Assault cannon and power fist. Squad B is the same as squad A.* A terminator captain is placed on the spot on the map.* Genestealers: The Genestealer player begins the game with 2 blips and receives 3 reinforcement blips per turn; blips may enter play at any area. Special rules: Security Door: The Security door cannot be shot down or destroyed by a chain fist and cannot be opened by either player. The only way to open it is for a terminator to stand on Objective B and spend 2 action points to disable the door, if this happens the door becomes like a normal one and can be opened again. Captain: The space marine captain is a powerful leader and is a formidable close combat fighter, he follows the rules for space marine sergeants also he rolls 3 dice and takes the highest result in combat (remember he counts as a sergeant model so plus 1 to the result as normal) His leadership on the field is of great use to the space marines with him in addition to be able to re draw command points (remember sergeant) He adds plus 1 to how many command points the player may use to a maximum of 6 for example if the space marine player draws 4 he can use 5. "Something seems to be wrong the hulk isn’t slowing down" said Sergeant Tabbris after working on the consol. "Harachel this is Belial what’s wrong with the engines" "The controls have been locked and there is no way of overriding it" "Then the planet is doomed we have no means to destroy the hulk" said Belial. "Captain please wait, it seems from the bombardment of the hulk a path as opened up that leads to a heavy arms locker, there may be some explosives that you could use there" said Harachel. "Then that’s what we'll do, Brothers, plan B we're going to light up the night sky below” said Belial. The terminators made their way down the corridors to the area that Harachel had marked on their display, Fighting off wave after wave of Genestealer attack, Belial had faced great hordes before and did not balk at the numbers of the Genestealers at all, he had fought on Armageddon against the great Ork armies of Ghazghkull Thraka, and the key to fighting many times your number was honed to a fine art there, and it was bottle neck your enemy a role the cramped corridors of the space hulk had done for them quite well. "Entering the sector now, Harachel I need to plot our escape route" Said Belial "The scan shows a map that closely resembles a Space marine strike cruiser, there may be some drop pods in the hanger you could use to escape" answered Harachel "Then we shall place our faith in a lost ship of our battle brothers" Said Belial "There is something else, I have detected a new life form that doesn’t match the other xenos, I recommend caution" said Harachel "Acknowledged" Said Belial "I've marked on the map the two best choices for maximum effect, after calculating the time it will take to reach the hanger you will need to set the timer on the bombs to 40 minutes" said Harachel. The Dark Angels must move quickly in order to set the bombs and then have enough time to escape. Forces and Deployment: Space Marines: The space marine player Has 2 squads. They moved through the ship to reach a door seal that looked familiar it was an Black Iron fist inside a white circle with a yellow background, this hanger belonged to one of the most respected and powerful chapters in history that won glory and honour defending the cradle of mankind against the arch heretic over 10,000 years ago. Entering the ship they could not afford to admire the atmosphere they had to move quickly. "The Lion watches over us there are two working drop pods ready to launch on the far end of the hanger" Reported Harachel "I believe entering this hulk was penance set by the Emperor, and if he is testing us like this it means we can absolve our sins" Said Belial. As the countdown for the pods launch was activated there was a sudden crashing sound from outside that didn't seem like bombardment, it was closer. "What was that?" Said Belial "It’s that monster sized Genestealer that tried to stop the placing of the charges it’s still alive, and it’s trying to destroy the pods" Said Harachel. Just then Belial unlocked the door seal and exited the pod to face the beast sealing it behind him. It was on top of the pod he was in crouching down and ready to destroy still sporting wounds from the previous encounter. Belial fired his storm bolter at it to get its attention and a shell clipped its leg making it lose its balance and fall, just then the pods were launched, and Belial entered combat with the creature. Forces and Deployment: Space Marines: A terminator captain is placed on the spot on the map.* Genestealers: A Broodlord is placed on the spot on the map. Shaun Carlin Posted January 16, 2010 Author Share Posted January 16, 2010 Final Mission Escape All around the space hulk was shaking violently from the sheer weight of fire coming from outside, gases hissed from burst pipes and electrical wires were swinging from the ceiling, Explosions were booming from all directions and sparks were randomly flying around the rooms, the red warning lights were on and the alert Klaxon was blaring loudly, a giant shadowy figure moved quickly and wearily around the corridors struggling to keep footing from the hazardous conditions and near constant shaking from the rockets and missiles battering on the ship from the outside, it was Belial Master of the Deathwing and he was determined to survive, a Fallen Dark Angel was below him on the planets surface and his brothers were already in pursuit, he had to escape and get to the planet below, the clock was ticking inside his suit display and he knew the detonators would tear the ship apart from the inside out. His only chance was a single saviour pod located on the far end of the hall. "There’s still time" panted Belial his super human body was at its limit. He could hear the familiar shriek of the Genestealers approaching, "Relentless monsters!" Belial shouted as he ran down the corridor towards another battle, either way it would be his last aboard this space hulk... Forces and Deployment: A terminator captain is placed on the spot on the map. Genestealers: The Genestealer player begins the game with 0 blips and receives 2 reinforcement blips per turn, blips may enter play at any area. Special rules: Exhausted: Belial has fought long and hard his two hearts are hammering inside his chest to keep him going when his body is screaming in pain to stop Command points cannot be used to increase Belials movement this mission Low on ammo: Belial does not have the ammo reserves to be able to use hap hazard Belial cannot benefit from the sustained fire bonus this mission. Desperate defence: Belial is not about to die in the face of these aliens when his quarry is on the ground Belial will go into Guard mode at every combat phase before dice are rolled for no action points. Captain: The space marine captain is a powerful leader and is a formidable close combat fighter, he follows the rules for space marine sergeants also he rolls 3 dice and takes the highest result in combat (remember he counts as a sergeant model so plus 1 to the result as normal) His leadership on the field is of great use to the space marines with him in addition to be able to re draw command points (remember sergeant) He adds plus 1 to how many command points the player may use to a maximum of 6 for example if the space marine player draws 4 he can use 5. Victory: The Space marine player wins If he moves His captain into the objective room The Genestealer player wins if he Kills the Captain http://i47.tinypic.com/2zxxb47.jpg *Designers note : Everyone knows what this mission is, the heroic escape against the clock fighting enemies in pursuit, It wouldn't be entirely inappropriate to set the mood with some good epic background music, something with orchestral vocals, I find the track "Escape" from the metal gear solid soundtrack fits quite well although doesn’t last as long as you'd want it to. Will Belial escape? its up to you. His hearts slowed and he allowed himself to rest because the battle was not yet done, the reason he was here in the first place was to capture the Fallen Dark Angel on the surface below 00:01:30 At first it seamed like some dark influence had sent the hulk through the warp to destroy the planet but Belial now thought of it as a test from the Emperor which he and his brothers had passed 00:01:19 Hurtling through the vacuum of space towards Balthon II with the Planetary defence forces still battering the space hulk even now none the wiser that it was unnecessary 00:01:05 Belial let his Catalepsean Node put him into a state of half sleep to get some rest before he had to fight again 00:00:56 Just then the pod started shaking and the heat inside it rose, the pod was entering the atmosphere and moving towards the battle zone, the Fallen had a small army of his own nothing that the Deathwing could not crush to get to him 00:00:30 Balthon II Sergeant Sariel fired his storm bolter at the foul traitor guardsman blowing him apart from the chest, after so recently dealing with the lightning swift Genestealers these barbaric madmen seemed to be standing still, their attempts to fight off their attackers with auto guns and lasfire were undisciplined and ill efficient, his squad marched through the din of battle striking fear in the very hearts of the enemy, his squad laughing as they cut short their retched lives, still covered in alien blood and have emerged from an old drop pod they must have looked like something from nightmares, armour rent and torn in places, with glowing red eyes and utterly unstoppable and unyielding. From the far end of the battle Sammael could be seen on his Ancient and venerated Jet bike dealing death swiftly to make his way towards the hated traitor trying to escape, the display on Sariels helmet bleeped a warning that 00:00:30 seconds remained, just then his gaze turned up seeing something that looked like a comet crash into the ground cutting off the Fallens escape 00:00:10 the door seal hissed open and from it emerged their leader Belial and the Dark Angels of the Deathwing cheered, The Fallen Dark Angel raised his Bolt pistol to defend himself as Belial charged 00:00:00 The night sky turned to brilliant white the traitor guardsmen fell to their knees screaming and the Fallen was left reeling from the shimmering light Belial was unaffected, the explosion was behind him he raised his armoured gauntlet and punched the Fallen in the face shattering his helmet knocking him out cold. Aboard the Strike Cruiser "Arch Angel" The terminator suits were being repaired and the Deathwing squads Tabbris and Sariel were being tended by the apothecaries’ on board the ship. Belial looked out the window at the planet below there wasn’t any serious damage caused by the space hulk the parts burned up mostly on re-entry Harachel had advised well. The sound of mechanical arms twisting and turning accompanied by the thud of armoured boots came from behind him, Belial turned and said "I was just thinking to myself Harachel that you did an excellant job, it looks like the space hulk was completely destroyed." "No one had tended to the machine sprit of those engines in decades possibly even centuries and I knew that in its death throes the hulk would not want any of its tainted form to remain" said Harachel "We owe thanks to the Imperial fists also and I think we owe them 2 pods still" Said Belial "I shall repair them to the best of my ability Captain" said Harachel "Very well" Said Belial turning to look out the window again to contemplate the battle, "Oh there is one more thing Captain" said Harachel, Belial turned to give him his full attention "The PDF believe that it was they that destroyed the space hulk with their bombardment the Balthon II Hulk Slayers they have been renamed to commemorate their 'victory'" Said Harachel. Kaosheretik Posted April 3, 2012 Share Posted April 3, 2012 Printed this campaign about a year ago and just finished playing it and most if not all 2 blips per turn missions were good. Captain was fun. All of the 3 blips per turn missions are impossible except the first one. One of them even has the broodlord! 2 of these missions are extremely long, they would be tough even with 1 blip per turn. I recommend playing them with 2 blips per turn and no broodlord. Play mission 1 as designed. Missions 4 was biggest waste of time I have had in Hulk. Genestealer player gets so few blips in beginning and when he starts to get some it is too late to do anything. I recommend starting mission with 3 blips and otherwise normal mission rules. Mission X Closing and XI are just stupid. Nice for story but bad gameplay.
