Frontline989
If your collection is small I feel their are more important things to buy. If you've got a sizeable collection then yeah sure pick one up. theonelawler
i have about 3000 points and want to know which version to get? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189328-land-raiders-and-space-wolves/#findComment-2241430 Share on other sites
wolf363839
I love 'em. I use one as a part of the core of my army. Land Raider with Grey Hunters, led by WG w/ power fist and whatever character suits the enemy 3 x Rhino with Grey Hunters, led by WG w/ power fist Then depending on the enemy, I'll add the firepower or any extras I need. The Land Raider will draw fire, but is fairly reliable at getting my pack at least half way across the table and adds some mobile firepower. btw, I usually play 2000 pt games. Even in smaller ones I still like Raiders. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189328-land-raiders-and-space-wolves/#findComment-2241432 Share on other sites
TopToffee
Depends who you're regularly playing against really... if your opponents are generally mech heavy, then the "standard" land raider is your best bet... if they're horde, then probably the Crusader if footslogging or podding MEQ's, the S6 AP3 flamestorm cannons on the Redeemer are SWEET. commander alexander
I would also suggest magnetizing your raider, at $50, it makes sense to pay a few bucks for some magnets to be able to use any of the options or load outs you want. wolf363839
How would you magnetize the Raider. I'm looking a LRC/LRR kit I have now. I am thinking of sticking the magnets into the weapons themselves, to sort of wrap around the pivot. commander alexander
I believe there are some very good tutorials here, just look in this tutorial forum http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?showforum=172 Or go to the librarium http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...&showcat=13 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189328-land-raiders-and-space-wolves/#findComment-2241482 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
I figure if you already have yourself Long Fangs and Dreads for some LR antitank that the best idea would be the Crusader/Redeemer kit. Mid-Close range, good firepower, and they can bring in larger squads like WGTDA and BCs+Priest. Definitely a large hammer unit, but a good one for its points. Wildfire
I always push people to use magnets. But if you're looking at affixing them permenantly, I'd go for a crusader or redeemer. I particularily like the redeemer, because there's a lot of MEQ in my area. Both are close range, which is where you want them to be to deliver their cargo anyways. Sambu
I think Land Raider's are awesome. I have all the variants and the one I like the most is the crusader (12 shots of bolter, 4 with assult cannon, and one multi melta just equals awesome). I only have 6 Land Raiders right now and I am trying to get 4 more LOL. WG Vrox
(12 shots of bolter, 4 with assult cannon, and one multi melta just equals awesome) Now don't give the wrong impression here LRC is awesome, but only sports 6 twin linked bolter shots not 12. The nice thing is you can move 12" and fire all bolters as defensive weapons and of course 1 Machine spirit weapon or you can also move 6" and fire all it's weapons. Natanael
I've got 1 LRC and 1 LR, and they do great. Thinking about getting a 2nd LRC and run them all in a 1750p tourney. Might be fun. Ullr Direfang
i currently have a standard LR. i plan to buy another standard (probably the pre-heresy one from FW) and a LRC. i understand the place of the LRR but i just don't like it. jester262
I normally play 1850 games. I never take the field without my redeemer. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189328-land-raiders-and-space-wolves/#findComment-2242495 Share on other sites
Redbaron997
I admit i prefer the Standard Phobos pattern Land Raider. I usually dont need the extra tansport capacity, and the ability to take to TL Lascannon shots at two different tanks is just awesome to me. That and the backup TL Heavy Bolter is enough anti-infantry to get me by. I usually just need more anti-armour, and the Phobos pattern does that. Grey Mage
Isnt the standard verision the "Godhammer"? Godhammer is the Guns on it, so its often called that but the actual name is phobos, off the name of the moon that is its primary production facility. There is also a Deimos variant supposedly. Elahir
My favorite so far is a LRR filled with Arjac and a GH pack. Might be a bit of overkill but fun as hell. Lord Howland Greywolf
LRC is my favorite, as it can move and fire all of its weapons and can decimate light infantry, and isn't too shabby against vehicles either. Plus if it gets immobilized people fear of getting within 12 of the thing.
