Huberman
These are all the bits that i got for christmas. I finally finished the last scout and decided to post them up. What do you all think? http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10247.jpg http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10246.jpg http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10236.jpg http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10237.jpg http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10240.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189359-lions-rampant/ Share on other sites
Night Runner
I think it's a great start and you are definately on the right track, since your work is neat and well defined. But you need to highlight and shade the colours used. White is a very difficult colour to paint. On the recent White Dwarf with the Skaven cover (I forgot the issue number) there is a very good tutorial on painting white. The model used was Korsaro khan of the White Scars. IMO you should read throught it. It will certainly help you with ideas on how to shade white (which cannot be highlighted). I hope it helps. Keep up the good work and post more pics when you can. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189359-lions-rampant/#findComment-2241818 Share on other sites
Huberman
Thanks for the tips, but i don't have white dwarf, so i'll have to google that one :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189359-lions-rampant/#findComment-2241822 Share on other sites
dizzy-xc
Yeah, go to gamesworkshop.com and search for space marine painting tips. You need to highlight, shade and black line better. Good start, but dont paint your whole army before reading the tips from the pros. Helped me and my wife learn to paint better. Edit: Oh my, and lest we forget washes! jlmb_123
If you want a good white, try Menoth white by Privateer, you buy one pot of White Base and one of White, although the shade/base is a browny-cream colour, so may not go with your blue. Huberman
I have some Sternguard to paint, so what i've done is make another white and water it down. i've nearly finished the second one and the coat looks good. Capt. Lysander
This looks good, it's always nice to see a chapter that is rarely painted. Good start! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189359-lions-rampant/#findComment-2243070 Share on other sites
Huberman
This is the latest edition to my army, Artix. 2nd Company master for Lions Rampant. What do you all think? http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10257.jpghttp://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10258.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189359-lions-rampant/#findComment-2258876 Share on other sites
Capt. Lysander
Ooh, I really like how he has two swords. Is the left arm (looking from the marine's point of view) converted from the chainsword in the dev's sprue? Huberman
well, it was. it kept on snapping off, so i took the arm off of a dev sargent and swapped them over. i still need to get around to fixing his right arm. it should be resting on to his shoulder, but insted, it's on his head... Capt. Lysander
Haha, I like the scout: especially the fact that the stand fits well on the ground. Reminds me of a machine-gunner! Huberman
Reminds me of a machine-gunner! not the look i was going for to be honest.... but i like it. i've started on a ghillie suit, but it needs tweaking. DevianID
You should try a very watered down GW brown wash across the entire model. A watered down brown can shade almost anything, especially your colors white, blue and red, plus your splash colors green and brown leather. Try it on a test tactical marine. I think you might fall in love with the one step shading. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189359-lions-rampant/#findComment-2279164 Share on other sites
Huberman
Well, I got bored, so I made this guy. What do you all think? http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10326.jpg http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10331.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189359-lions-rampant/#findComment-2285953 Share on other sites
Huberman
This is Sharp. Remember him? Well i finally got round to doing his Ghillie suit. Here he is: http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10333.jpg http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10334.jpg http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10337.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189359-lions-rampant/#findComment-2306099 Share on other sites
AL.
looking good, try a black ink for a simple way to give some depth to your colours (e.g. red) It wont work so well on the white but it will add depth and definition to most other colours. Serrated_Sun
Love the colour scheme, as some folk have said before lil bit of highlighting /shading and they'll look even better, and may i ask sharp based one "the" sharp played by sean bean , if so name the scouts after the chosen men <_< also off topic found it cool when i saw you live in Northampton only due to i live in kettering but other than that nice marines Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189359-lions-rampant/#findComment-2306480 Share on other sites
Slyen
I think with Sharp you probably should have left the ghilie suit off. I would have done one of the rolled up camo-cloaks instead. Also the bipod should be farther back, at least to where the barrel extends. Where it is placed now is partly why (in my mind) why it looks more like he is a machine gunner... same kind of pose but that can't really be helped. I agree with the highlighting, still learning how to do this one myself *cough* Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189359-lions-rampant/#findComment-2306854 Share on other sites
Huberman
No it wasn't based on that Sharp, more the one from the PS2 COD5 campaign, but anyway, I'll get onto doing some highlights for him and see how things look from there. dood515
You're paint is looking a little thick there but I generally like the colour scheme. There's a youtube channel called bluetablepainting that is very well known and I think I remember them having a guard army called The Lions Rampant. - The dood Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189359-lions-rampant/#findComment-2346595 Share on other sites

Huberman
I have now got a Drop Pod (yay for me :D). I worked 'till midnight to get it done, so here's the finished product. c&c appreciated as always. http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10339.jpg http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10342.jpg My Drop Pod is for my Sternguard and the First Company Comander, who is count as Lysander, btw. I have called him Leo, seeing as the Chapter is named: Lions Rampant, Leo seemed rather fitting. http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10346.jpg http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10349.jpg http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10350.jpg http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae126/Huberman/SDC10353.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189359-lions-rampant/#findComment-2358694 Share on other sites
