Wolf Guard plus others

Oh right. Just missed that, heh. Well look here, emperors intrument, whenever you have such a brightly painted model, use a darker background to contrast your pics to better help bring out the bright color of the model. Otherwise, you risk over exposing it. Cant pick out details cuz its too damned bright. And you need a cpl more pics from the side, back and angle. Looks promising, but I'll withold comment pending more pics.

Here's a couple more. I'm having trouble with exposure rates at the moment but hopefully I'll have sorted that by the time I've finished the second model.

The right shoulder is my geniune first attempt at freehand images.

Great paint job, crisp, neat and highlighted well. On a personal note however, I never liked the baby blue colour for Space Wolves and I prefer the original darker grey, but as I said that is just a personal opinion. It takes nothing away from your great pain job.

Thanks for the comments so far :-)

Here's the second member of the five man squad.

I finally have the first finished legal unit of my 1500 point army!!

Looks good. What are you using for the base colour? Space Wolves Grey, Shadow Grey or Fenris Grey?

To me it is looking like Space Wolves Grey, because that is what most of my wolves army is painted in right now. I am currently working on getting that corrected, by mixing Space Wolves grey and shadow grey together, which in my opinion gives a colour closer to that of the colour used by GW.

some nice painting there and the shoulder pads look great, nice freehand emblems. I dont usually mind what colour the wolves are painted, but i must say the warm yellow and the ice cold grey/blue really help to add some nice contrast to these models. really nice clean job there, superb

Thanks for the comments guys. Number four should be up in a couple of days followed swiftly by number five, just waiting for a copy of white dwarf for the crystalline blade tutorial to use on my frost blades.

Bloody hell matey, those are looking awesome, I look forward to kicking them round a table at some point!

Cheers bud. I kinda know how you felt when you were painting those Templars now. Hellva worth the effort though!! I haven't gone full TDA WG though. Eighteen more in PA, rune priest, wild priest, LLR, two pods and finally Logan. He'll go up last though.

Looks good. What are you using for the base colour? Space Wolves Grey, Shadow Grey or Fenris Grey?

Its a black spray undercoat followed by two thin coats of shadow grey to give a solid base and then between 4 and 6 fine layers of space wolves grey and then just straight skull white for the highlights.

There is no blending, washing or drybrushing (except the bases) on the mini's, purely flat colours all the way.

Once again thanks for the feedback, now back to the painting table....

I love baby blue SW, Ok I will try your recipe out on my next squad.

Any chance of some close ups and also pictures taken in natural light without a flash?

Also your yellow is nice and bright how did you get it like that?

Once the final two are finished I'll do a bit of an extended photo sessions with close ups etc..

As for the yellow, it's a bit of a long winded process. Starting with blazing orange until there is a fairly solid coat, then moving onto fiery orange again until solid. It's then about three coats of golden yellow, followed by sunburst yellow and finally bad moon yellow. It would obviously be easier to re-undercoat those areas white and just go through the yellows but I feel my way gives a bit of depth because you can see some of the darker colours in the recesses.
