Fulgrim- It raining men? (sorry couldnt help myself)

Surely Guillliman has to be -
by Eiffel 65 - I'm not sure if those of you outside of Europe were ever 'fortunate' enough to experience such quality music!

yes we suffered! my dance and PE teachers wouldnt stop plaing it till about 2004.

40k to me has always been incredibly metal. These are my song selections based on theme in general feel they bring. Excluding Bolt Thrower, that'd be too easy; So here we go:

Sanguinus- Blood Hunger Doctrine (Dimmu Borgir)

Leman Russ- Tattered Banners and Bloody Flags (Amon Amarth)

Mortarion- Throne of Rats (Marduk) or almost all Carcass songs ;)

"Plauge upon plauge, blockboil redemption, upon this sea of rats shall I set my throne" :tu:

Night Haunter- Night Eternal (Moonspell)

Perturabo- Edgecrusher (Fearfactory)

Horus- Conquer All (Behemoth)

Khan- We Ride (Strapping Young Lad)

Angron- Fury Within (Hate Eternal)

Lorgar- God of Emptiness (Morbid Angel)

Vulkan- Combustion inferno (Krisiun)

Corax- Nemesis (Arch Enemy)

Dorn- Battlefield (Blind Guardian)

Roboute- Prevail (Kataklysm)

Alpharius- Cancer (The Amenta)

Lion El Johnson- Progeny (Celtic Frost)

Fulgrim- Children of Decadance (Children of Bodom)

Magnus- Papyrus Containing The Spell To Preserve Its Possessor Against Attacks From He Who Is In The Water (Nile)

Ferrus- Digimortal (Fear Factory)

OK, I'll throw my two rubles in... it's going to be almost exclusively metal considering my playing and listening preferences.

Lorgar - The Sound Of Eight Hooves (Amon Amarth) - with the lines such as "and just before the preacher dies, he knows his god is false", it is a perfect fit. Another possibility is "Lama Sabachthani" by Anaal Nathrakh. Hell, even "Embodiment" by Carcass could work - "I bow down before your precious icon, deity of self-suppression...".

Fulgrim - Death In Vogue (Deathstars) - "drinks and pills and Gucci drenched in blood" somehow sounds like Fulgrim.

Magnus - Powerslave (Iron Maiden) - "into the abyss I fall, the eye of Horus" ^_^ The whole Egyptian theme and resurrection/rebirth/magic referenced in the song sound like something I can imagine Magnus humming while getting his latest experiment ready.

Perturabo - Shock (Fear Factory) - "I will be the power surge, shock to the system, electrified, amplified" sounds like Perturabo, and when you consider the rhythmic nature of the music as a soundtrack to Perturabo's siege warfare expertise...

Horus - King At A Price (Jag Panzer) - the actual song is about Macbeth (yes, THAT Macbeth) deciding he will be king no matter the price, and I see it as fitting for Horus.

Konrad Curze - Night Crawler (Judas Priest) - the whole song basically describes his method of warfare, and could very well be used for his theme music with minimal liberties taken for interpretation.

Mortarion - Funeral Fog (Mayhem) - oddly reminds me of Barbarus and Plague Planet, although any raw black metal in vein of Darkthrone and old Mayhem could work the right atmosphere.

Angron - Murder Worship (Cannibal Corpse) - as much as I like Bolt Thrower, I felt like going for something slightly less expected, with lyrics such as "homage to our God, the act of killing bears us/Closer to His grace, beyond the void of darkness/Every drop of blood, a chance to deify us/Bring us to our lord our killings transcending/Convictions of violence pure, unrelenting" being pretty much Khornate metal in definition.

Sanguinius - Battle Angels (Sanctuary) - "an army of vengeance invading from the sky/hot wings of iron hiss into the night"...

Alpharius - Another Brick In The Wall Part 2 (Pink Floyd) - just think about it in the context of Alpharius/Guilliman relationship... "we don't need no education/we don't need no thought control" takes on a whole new meaning.

Lion El'Jonson - The Psalm Of Lydia (Nevermore) - for some reason that song feels to me like it connects with the Lion, considering unconventional structure, oddball lyrics, and mentions of monster/beast slaying.

Can't think of any others at the moment, and it's getting late, so I'll leave it at that for now.

40k in General- My Apocalypse; Metallica

Alpharius- Riot; Three Days Grace

Angron- How the West was Metalized; Crueldeity

Horus- An Audience with the Devil; Hilltop Hoods

Dorn- Ten Thousand Fists; Disturbed

Ahirman- Burn; Three Days Grace

The whole Prospero burning thing.

Fulgrim- Nosebleed Section, Left Foot Right Foot, Clown Prince; all by Hilltop Hoods

I've always pictured Fulgrim as a druggie. Whether or not these song reflect that...

Fulgrim / Emperor's Children : Joy Division - Disorder

Rogal Dorn / Imperial Fists : Covenant - We Stand Alone

Horus / Sons of Horus : Powerman 5000 - When Worlds Collide

Alpharius / Alpha Legion : The Offspring - You're Gonna Go Far Kid

Lorgar / Word Bearers : Killswitch Engage - My Last Serenade

Sanguinius / Blood Angels : Bauhaus - Bela Lugosi's Dead

Perturabo / Iron Warriors: Command and Conquer Red Alert - Hell March

Angron / World Eaters : Snake River Conspiracy - Homicide

Mortarion / Death Guard : Flyleaf - I'm So Sick

Guilliman / Ultramarines : Dream Evil - The Chosen Ones

Russ / Space Wolves : Nickelback - Burn it to the Ground

Night Haunter / Night Lords : Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down

Magnus / Thousand Sons : VAST - Thrown Away

Jonson / Dark Angels : Alien Sex Fiend - I walk the line

OK, I'll throw my two rubles in... it's going to be almost exclusively metal considering my playing and listening preferences.

You're alirght :)

Leman Russ- Tattered Banners and Bloody Flags (Amon Amarth)

I personally think Free Will Sacrifice is more fitting, although pretty much any AA song works (Viking Metal, Space Vikings...)

Prey for Plagues by BmtH works for Mortarion too.

for Sanguinius "Travel to Stygian" (Iced Earth)

just the image of an angel traveling through the caverens of hell comes to mind :)

....and for his BloodAngels, "Deadly Sinners"(3 Inches of Blood)

Because their name is in the band name B)

For general Space Marine Fighting, (well maybe more geared twords assult squads)

"Vallhal Awaits Me" (Amon Amarth)...Its all in the rythem

For Khan, "Cry of the BlackBirds" (Amon Amarth)

...I know its Viking music, but you cant deny an excellent calvery charge song. :P

I find Led Zeppelin can fit most themes correctly :).

Leman Russ - Immigrant Song

Conrad Curze/ Horus Lupercal - No Quarter

Roboute Guilliman - Kashmir

Sanguinius - Achilles Last Stand/ Stairway to Heaven

Mortarion - Misty Mountain Hop

Fulgrim - Trampled Under Foot

I Lion El'Jonson - the enemy - paradise lost

II

III Fulgrim - venus in furs - velvet underground

XIX Corax - this means war -morbid angel

XX Alpharius Omegon

You're alirght :)

Another Coloradoan? Very cool! :) I just had to plug in Colorado metal (Jag Panzer), especially considering that the song in question is a great fit, and the band is a worldwide name.

Yeah dude, in the springs. Which sucks a bit :P Saw Suffocation, Devil Driver, Vader ,The Amenta ect ect Nile recently. Missed Devin Townsend thogh.

THIS thread is so Metal! :) Damn, I love wargamers.

Unleashed and Space Wolves are pretty hand in hand too. I listened to their discography while reading all the Wolf novles, which was truly mindblowing at some points.

40k is quite metal IMO. My first games in my bud's basement were played to a list like tons of the songs above.

It's kinda making me want to expand into Chaos Gods, Factions, other Races ect

Various Jungle Rot songs evoked images of the Raptors chapter for me..

I'm usually in the Springs at least once a week, practicing with my (very much metal) band there, although nowadays, don't have much time to go to shows, having a family and all that. So let me know via PM if you would ever be up for a game - I have roughly 2,500 points of Raven Guard and some Orks. But, before it goes way off-topic...

I very much concur. It is no accident GW considered signing Bolt Thrower to their own label back in the 80s, and, IIRC, was responsible for several mostly metal compilations with songs inspired by WFB and WH40K. Speaking of Wolves though, Finntroll could at times fit them and Russ quite well... while Bolt Thrower made a whole album ("Realm Of Chaos") about, well, Chaos Space Marines.

Horus- The Man Who Sold the World by David Bowie

Fulgrim- Dorian by Demons and Wizards

Lorgar- Eulogy by Tool

Night Haunter- Frayed Ends of Sanity by Metallica

Lion El'Johnson- Girls Just Want to Have Fun by Cindi Lauper

Rogal Dorn- The Trooper by Iron Maiden

Ferrus Manus- Melancholy by Iced Earth

Yeah I also listen to the stereotypical nerd-metal, but at least it's not Slipknot or Disturbed.

Muhahahahahaha.....

V Jaghatai Khan - Dschinghis Khan from Dschinghis Khan (look out if you goggle that group but that should fit definitly the Khan *ggg*...
