Tek 4
This is my new chaos lord, i love the model, one of my favorites. I painted him the opposite main color scheme as the plague marine troop he's going into, purple and green. I haven't done any green stuff before, and i'm kind of afraid to try on a model like this so i may wait till i do my nurgle rhino and experiment with it then. The plague marines are still very WIP, i've only got two of the torso's for the troop "finished" without touch up's so i haven't even taken pics yet. Chaos Lord- http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0219.jpg Plague Marines- Soon to Come hopefully. Nurgle Rhino- Also soon to come. Vazturan Dominus
Crisp painting. Love that model too. But it looks a bit flat, maybe try using a couple of washes or highlighting the edges. Skirax
Very nice, but that model looks rather 'bendy', the little chain looks like it's all that's holding him up. LuNCHBiZZLe
Usualy I dont like bright marines but this has a old 2nd ed feel to it, I do agree that a quick wash probably with devilin mud(?) would help bring everything together, and as far as your GS-fu plague marines is good way IMO to start with. Tek 4
Well the plague marines I have are authentic plague marines but I was considering adding plagueness to my lord, but I'll have to practice on my plagued rhino first. Also, yes the model does seem quite bendy, but the bottom of his feet and the chains and chaos icon are all interconnected and make him surprisingly solid. I'll look into the washes, currently the only ones I have are ogryn flesh, Baal red, and badab black. Badab black really helps on fine details like the demon teeth filing the gaps, I've grown quite fond of it. What effect would devlin mud have? Any other tips? I'm interested in highlighting , but have no idea how to do it. Tek 4
I washed him with some ogryn flesh for contrast, but I'm not sure it did anything. I'm about to start on the ginourmous jump pack he has. I'll make sure to take pics while I'm painting for actual wip pics and take another pic of the lord himself when I believe I have completed it to the best of my current ability. It does indeed. The flame effects of the claws are well done. Tek 4
Well, actually I didnt paint any flame effects lol. I just painted them blood red. I've got a few more pics to post but it's almost 100%. I've also got a few pics of my just started plague marines. They're only done from the heet down, no arms yet. Also my rhino is still getting assembled. I'll post some pics soon. MRCHAOS
I would say give this model a big wash with Devlan Mud, like other posters have said and you will be shocked how it will tie all the colours togethor and make the model look so much better. Tek 4
Ok, so i've done some more painting and taken some pics. I've got my troop of plague marines started and the chaos lord is next to done. I still need to get a bottle of devlan mud but otherwise i am satisfied with him pretty well. Heres the pics. First, the lord. http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0238.jpg From the back. http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0240.jpg In front of his squad #1. http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0237.jpg #2 http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0236.jpg The Troop http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0229.jpg Close up 1 http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0234.jpg #2 http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0233.jpg #3 http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0229.jpg And finally some touch ups and basically final pics to my night lord model that i currently use as a khorne skull champion. http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0246.jpg http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0247.jpg All C&C very welcome and appreciated. Tek 4
Im currently working on a base for my lord. I've never based a model before so this is a new venture. Just took a picture and here it is. http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0250.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189445-chaos-lord-and-plague-marines/#findComment-2258264 Share on other sites
Tek 4
Well ten minutes later i had it all finished up, and i am VERY pleased with the result. Here's the base completed. http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0264.jpg Then the lord on it. http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0265.jpg http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0266.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189445-chaos-lord-and-plague-marines/#findComment-2258273 Share on other sites
Tek 4
All comments and criticism are welcome and appreciated. This is probably my best model so far, i'm still very new to painting. Outside of the devlan mud, are there any other washes or brush techniques i could do to add depth? Terminatorinhell
I like the Night Lords model the best :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189445-chaos-lord-and-plague-marines/#findComment-2258840 Share on other sites
Tek 4
I am also fond of the model. It was originally my Chaos Lord because when i bought the first parts of my army i couldn't find one. Tek 4
Perhaps it was too pic heavy, or maybe my horrendous painting skill just drove off all potential criticism... Cyrl
*Camera returns to studio* "...Thanks Jane. And now for the Imperial News, the Ultima Segmentum is increasingly under Tyranid pressure as Hive Fleet Kraken pushes further in toward the Galactic Core, Waagh Grimthakka has been successfully halted by Vindicare Assasins, Warp Storms are predicted throughout the regions surrounding Chumet, Fulcrest and Rynn's World, in other news Vampire Counts are seen in space. Over to Steve with the photos..." And finally some touch ups and basically final pics to my night lord model that i currently use as a khorne skull champion.http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0246.jpg http://i791.photobucket.com/albums/yy191/tek4wiseman/DSCI0247.jpg All C&C very welcome and appreciated. This is an awesome model - I always though I hated that one but apparently it was just the painting :P Trés cool paint scheme. I can't say I'm a huge fan of the colour scheme but the painting is crisp and of a good quality so good marks there, it's nice to see another take on the nurgle colour scheme. Tek 4
Thanks for the comment. I really like the purple, so i decided i would make it the secondary color in the scheme of my plague marines, and the opposite the scheme of the lord that goes with them.
