DapperDave
as I walked to the subway this morning. With the new FAQ clarifying that ICs can take fenrisian wolves and still join squads, I was trying to think if I could make use of this. I normally run a thunderwolf mounted wolf lord (typically with Warrior Born) with 4 or 5 TWC and a screening unit of wolves. Now, if I drop Warrior Born, I can add two wolves (to the wolf lord) and Saga of the Wolfkin for the same points cost. This not only boosts all my wolves to I5, but I gain 2 more (effectively) T5 wounds with the wolves in the TWC unit. This, combined with the 4+ from the screening wolves and a belt of russ on the lord should make them more survivable without the huge cost of storm shields. My only question is, do you think I've sacrificed too much killyness (loosing Warrior Born) or do you think it's actually increased (from 12 I5 wolves)? Rindaris
It definitely makes running the character easier, from not having to carry over kills for the Saga. And you can use the wolves to soak instakill hits while you get into combat. I think its a good idea, but thats just me. Depends on what you see as 'too much' killyness. If you give him the right gear (such as a frost weapon) he should already be dishing out 5-6 S6 power weapon attacks, which is just plain evil. The two wolves more than make up for Warrior Born and act as ablative armour. It's definitely the way I'd run him. Death Wolf
Well its on the way into CC that you use the Wolves as instakill sponges, because once you get into CC the wolf lord and TWC really have the ability to kill whatever could instakill them before it touches them. Gotta love S6 Power Weapons that swing at I5! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189450-an-idea-struck-me/#findComment-2244064 Share on other sites
Wildfire
Oops, sorry. Thought he'd said "when you get into combat," instead of "while you get into combat." My mistake. rahl02
An idea struck me as I read the Faq, you could potentially have 2-3 IC join an IP with 4 cyber wolves. Each IC can have 2 wolves each, so long as their other wargear is different it's legal. Heck you could potentially have 4 hq in their own IC squad together with 2 wolves each. Could be fun. Bearboy
Going that far just throw the IC's in a regular wolf pack. It uses a fast attack slot but you can get more wolves. Natanael
That would be fun. 4 TWMed HQs w/ 2 wolves each, in a 15 man wolf pack. 23 Fen wolves and 4 Twolves. :P All I5.
