Vehicles and Cover

The rule book states that if a shooter is more than 2" inside area terrain, the target is given a cover save. Note that this says nothing about the target being conceiled or being in cover, just that the target gets a cover save because the shooter is inside terrain.

In the vehicle section, it says that the vehicle cover saves work a little differently, then lists the specific differences for the vehicle. (i.e., it must be physically 50% hidden from view, and so on). Now, each of these exceptions deal specifically with the difference between a vehicle being in cover from a unit or troop. No where does it address the shooter being in cover in the exceptions.

So how do you guys play it? If the shooter is more than 2" inside area terrain, does the vehicle still get a cover save? Even if the vehicle is sitting in the middle of the board with nothing around it but air and sky?

Does the vehicle cover save statement that "the vehicle must be 50% conceiled to be given a cover save" trump all?

the reason a unit being in cover and farther then 2 inches from the boarder always gives a cover save, is because it always fires through cover (they can ignore up to two inches of cover they are in). The 50 percent bit trumps fireing though cover, which is what fireing from within cover IS, so yes.
