Scherdy
Looking to build some rune priests, wolf priests and kit out the rest of my Sons of Russ and being new to the whole marine side of the galaxy wanted to pick your brains for good sources for some bits. For a wolf-ish crozius - the little skull in the Wolf Pack set seems to fit nicely - any good ideas on what kit to look in to get a good looking bit to mount in on for the head of it (the imperium wingy version or something else ornate like that)? All these meltas, cyclones, missile launchers and frost blades/axes are also seeming slightly tough to find. Every marine players constantly shopping for them at the bitz stores? GW hasn't given an easy help besides buying whole kits for various specialty weapons for the most part since bitz ordering disappeared? ALmost forgot, is GW the only place (besides ebay maybe) to pick up the old SW sprue (with the wolf head backpacks, 1h frost axe and whatnot?) Any help for places I should look on the intertubes or throughout other galaxies, I'd appreciate it! jesse the frozen
Yea they made it hard on us for a crux and meltas. Anyways for my crux i used the terminator bannery thing, it is a little circle with a wolf head on it, and i added some other things fro the termi set. The melta/missile launcher and cyclone i suggest you get a friend for because there really is no 'cheap' way to do it,cept for missiles cause you can use AOBR missile guy. CainTheHunter
Cyclone can be easily made of Land Speeder Typhoon launcher bits. Just file some cable of, glue them together and they can be mounted upon TDA Wolf Guard - it fits perfectly. I could post some pics, if anybody is interested, but only later in the evening. LakotaWolf
there are some bitz sellers on ebay that combine shipping...........usually for 10-15 bucks i walk away with a whole bunch of stuff Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189579-wolfy-crozius-and-other-bit-sources/#findComment-2246850 Share on other sites
ORKILL
Meltas are available by the blister from GW at a reasonable price Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189579-wolfy-crozius-and-other-bit-sources/#findComment-2246905 Share on other sites

I would love to see this conversion idea. Can't quite visualise it at the moment Thanks in advance As to the OP's questions. Keep searching the bits stores. Ebay may through you an old Rune Priest for a couple of pounds, that will give you the wolfy crozios and the classic wolf skull helm (takes a bit of work to remove the skull helm but I have seen some do it). As for the older plastic SW bits sprue - you are probably worth buying them direct from GW as the prices on eBay can go crazy high (£6+) or look for the older plastic Grey Hunter / Bloodclaw packs which include them. For termies I suggest getting one SW and one 'nilla one for the extra weapon options and this will give you ten termies you can mix and match parts with. The extras in the new SW box sets can also be utilsed onto vehicles as honour badges etc so they really won't be anything going to waste. And lastly, there is Green Stuff when kit bashing fails For Russ - DGC Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189579-wolfy-crozius-and-other-bit-sources/#findComment-2246971 Share on other sites
Chodjinn
you can also use the deathwind misslie launchers from Drop Pod kits as cyclones, they look very good on the new terminators!!! Max_Dammit
Old SW players are loaded with melta, they came with every old SW upgrade sprue, must have 8 or more laying around, but yeah with the new boxes bits stores and trading sites are your best option Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189579-wolfy-crozius-and-other-bit-sources/#findComment-2247502 Share on other sites
Scherdy
Thanks for all the input, it definitely gives me a lot more ideas (and hope) that I don't have to buy an entire terminator set for a cyclone missile launcher  I would love to see any of the pics using the typhoon or drop pod pieces you might have. Sounds like a great alternative. Plus, i can justify buying another drop pod or landspeeder which I don't have any of, rather than 5 more terminators. I received 2 boxes of wolf guard terminators so adding a 3rd of regular terminators is something I'll probably hold off on :) Was looking at my scouts and they're all pretty similar in pose (slightly boring for an elite slot) and was wondering if people have stumbled across some good ideas do give them a more grizzled, unique look? I've heard people using some chaos arms for different poses. I think I might want to add an axe or two into some of my scouts or other GH/bloodclaws. Does anyone have a good recommendation for alternate axes from other sprues that don't look TOO ridiculously primitive? Chaos Marauders for axes, spiked maces with chains and a few furs, and Dwarves for loads of cool axes including rune engraved (the wolf skull in the middle is not included) Just for scale / looks this is the runic axe http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s47/DGC_album/DSCN0088.jpg As for the scouts, someone did quite an extensive conversion step-by-step but I can't remember who DGC Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189579-wolfy-crozius-and-other-bit-sources/#findComment-2247913 Share on other sites
