apoc question - flyers with hover mode and deployment

Hi

So I was thinking about flyers (as you do) and it made me think about a question.

 

If I deploy my flyer with hover mode (say a thunderhawk) on the table at the start of the game, does it have to spend the first turn using hover (so it counts as a skimmer) or is it become a flyer despite the use of hover to deploy?

It is deployed as a skimmer, but in your first movement phase you can hit the afterburners and move as (and act as) a Flyer.

 

So if you go second, it is better to put it in Strategic Reserve, as your opponent will have a "free" turn to shoot every single gun in his army at normal BS at your Flyer, but if you go first then it is better to deploy it as a skimmer and in your first Movement phase move as a Flyer to get the awesome "go fasta" save.
