[commission] Ultramarines Tactical Squad

This week I've been starting to put together one of the tactical squads for the Ultramarines commission I'm working on. The client has requested quite a few conversions (roughly 4 per squad), some quite simple, some not - here's some work in progress:

The sergeant has been given a nice lazy over-the-shoulder sword pose, which required a resculpt of the right arm, and wrist. Bas-relief Ultramarines icons have been added to the chest and left shoulder pad. Skulls have been added to the knee and right forearm.

The old favorite 'POINT AWAY FROM FACE' plasma gun pose. A resculpted right upper arm for this.

A bitz job with very minor filling work for the grenadier.

And another bitz job with a resculpted right wrist for a marksman/squad leader. The stock is scratchbuilt.

The rest of the squad are gonna be straight builds, nothing fancy, but the painting of this squad will be done at the same time as a few others...

Looks good mate. The sergeant came out nice, the skulls are a good touch to add to him, and I like the cracked stone effect you got on the U on his shoulder.

Hehe the plasma is a living classic, I've been tempted to do it myself ( if I ever used plasmaguns.. ) The squadleaders wrist came out great, doing the flexible joints with the "wavy" pattern can be tricky at times, but you got it down right :)

The stock looks a little crooked, but that might just be the pic.

The grenadier has his hand just a liiittle to closed, so it looks almost like he is catching the grenade rather than releasing it for a throw. When you go to throw you tend to open your hand more and let the "ball" slide of your fingers outward. Just a small detail that might just be too much trubble to fix. ;)

Waiting for more/paint!
