Captain Mike
I think you need to dull down the metal, tbh. Perhaps Wash it black or maybe even leviathan purple, seeing as your trims are pink it may help tie it in. If you want to keep it bright, do this then highlight mithril silver, it will add some real depth and you keep the brightness. Other than that, a good job. you have quite a steady hand to get all those details. Brother RedAxe
The problem I am having is the chainmail, bolt gun and mithril silver are all coming out the same despite mixing various amounts of black wit the chain mail and white with the mithril. Even tried washing with delvan mud and a black wash none seemed to dull the metallic so I could get a good blend. I have never reall used this much metallic on a fig before so I am having trouble. The armor trim is actually warlock purple not black. I am gonna try to fix te pics in photo shop, hopefully for a better result. infyrana
Have you tried washing the silver parts over with a black ink wash to really dull the silver down. Then, take small amounts of Chainmail onto a stiff dry brush, brush most of it off onto a paper towel or what have you, then lightly dry brush the larger surface areas and towards the middle to bring out the silver again, but in a dull manner ? I really like the computer concept art, but I can't see your model having very soft and light Mauve trimmings, only a very dark deep purple? I was hoping to see the light mauve, it looks very different. Brother RedAxe
The light mauve highlights seem to have been absorbed whenthe pic was taken. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189990-chaos-test-paint/#findComment-2251174 Share on other sites

Cornelias
try drybrushing your silver on rather than painting, should give better results. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189990-chaos-test-paint/#findComment-2251916 Share on other sites
Brother RedAxe
Ran the test paint on my dreadnought. Look alot better. There is a story for it. I got this dread listed as misc bits off ebay, they were badly damaged, being metal, and had everything but the power supply plate and one foot. It looked like an old space wolf dread. I cleaned it up as best I could replaced the unsalavgeable CCW and built the power supply from vehicle upgrade bits. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...i&img=42732] Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/189990-chaos-test-paint/#findComment-2252709 Share on other sites

Brother RedAxe
It is blood red very lightly dry brushed mithril silver. The axe is the one that comes with the chaos termie lord. I am just using it till I can completly plan what I am really going to use for him. I really wanted to start playing chaos so I through together a lord for the purpose of just playing then later making it a champion.
