Your rolling three dice at once though. They have no order. I'm no math wiz, i'll admit, but regardless of which two come up as a 1, and which one comes up as a 2 doesn't mean there's a change in the outcome.

When you roll three dice at once, there's only 1 chance that you'll roll a double 1 with a 2.

I will argue it. Those dice are physical objects. Take the scenario where you have one red, one green and one blue die. Now do you see why although it doesn't matter to you what order the numbers are, it sure matters in a a sense of total overall outcomes? Go back to your spreadsheet and start again but make sure that each column (representing one die) shows each possible outcome.

Or just accept that mathematics already solved it for you.

wow, took a long time to read through this thread!

Thank you very much for the battle reports Antique_Nova, enjoyed them alot so thanks for taking the time to write them.

@Decoy:

You may not have meant it Decoy but you came across as a right ass. Antique Nova wrote these up for our enjoyment, not so you could bash him. Everyone else's posts were clearly friendly and had good intentions as advice - your's was just rude and annoyed the hell out of me to read. The content of what you were saying had some merit (I think the SW army had a better synergy in the second game and having more Drop Pods seemed to work better) but if you write like that then don't expect people to have any respect for your opinions.

Sorry Thunderpup but maznaz's explanation is spot on.

Thanks again AN, and to the other contributors - I really enjoyed the back and forth debate on the lists - really looking forward to playing a Tyranid list with my Wolves now, but think I need to get a Nids dex so I prepared for everything - seems to be quite a lot of things to learn about them.

There's actually only 56 possible outcomes on a 3d6 (I worked it out on a spreadsheet. Yikes) with 36 of those being doubles or triples. Giving the Tyranid player a ~64% chance of stuffing the roll.

Actually there 6*6*6 = 216 possible outcomes...

Just saying...

chainsawDR, i would give you a beer now if i could phsically do it :). The 2nd batrep has a bit missed out, i will fix that in the future when i get time. Also i got another game and this time, your going to be left in complete darkness ;) - until it arrives that is.

The dice argument has probably stopped, but guys if you want to carry on, do you mind pming each other? Because my threads getting abit hi-jacked :).

thanks

I would like to see 'Nova playing his wolves list and someone else playing a nids list. Or see someone else playing their wolves list against 'nova's nids list. I always feel like I know exactly how to beat my own lists. And I also would like to maybe see a round robin bat rep where maybe nova pulls out his guard list and the sw along with the nids and run a round robin. Also perhaps do two games where nova and his buddy play two games with the exact same list but switch armies.
