Forgeworld Grey Knights

Are the Forgeworld upgradekits/dread worth it?

How effective is a GK Dread with a Psycannon and 'something else' (what preferably?)

I have a LR with lascannons in the box, should I buy the Redeemer upgrade kit and give it Psycannons? Or not worth it? Especially since I'll only use the codex not Imperial Armour or the likes.

Any purchases/combo's you'd advise?

while I'm not certain at all, I think forgeworld kits usually follow the rules of the imperial armour books (their own addition-to-the-real-rules rules, as far as I know).

There is no mentioning of psycannons on raiders/dreads nor any mentioning of a redeemer in the basic deamonhunter codex, as far as I remember (you can, ofcourse, upgrade the twin-linked heavy bolter on the land raider to psycannon bolts, but that does not require any other kit than you already have, since it only changes the bolts)...

If you are playing codex rules only, then do not buy any psycannon upgrades from forgeworld as they are not part of the rules in the codex. Get a dread and go twin-linked Lascannon/Missile Launcher. This allows you to pop transports, as well as have frag missiles for some anti-infantry firepower, while keeping your distance. What you put on you land raider depends largely on the rest of your list makeup but I run two crusaders currently in my 1500pt + lists. I also have 3 IST melta squads and a multi-melta inquisitor squad to back up my GK's.

Get the FW stuff, to make your run-of-the-mill dreads and raider look cool.

You'll need the IA books, if you want actual rules for them, but you can just run them by the codex - and should anyone complain about lack of WYSIWOOSYWHATALOADOFCRAP, just tell them that your weapons are converted to look like they've come out of the forges of Obscurus XI, and they've only got themselves to blame for not being able to recognize this - the look on their faces is usually priceless (read: worth the extra FW expense) :D

ROFL evil evil man! ;)

I personally own the whole Mark IV Dread, with Assault Cannon/CCW/SB, and then my Pride and Joy... the Ornate Sarcophagus, the Leg portion of the Throne of Judgement, the backback unit, assault cannon, and CCW of the Venerable Dread, and a hand-made Dreadnought NFW. Covered with a grand total of 23 Purity Seals, some 11 =][= sigils... Venerated Brother Dreadnought Tybalt. I love the looks of FW equipment, and plan on obtaining a GKLRR and two Psycannon Arms for my Dreads for Apocolypse/Mega Battles.

I own the full gk mark iv dread and its awesome. Psycannon can be a usefull weapon for a dread, but unless you have tank busting on lock down Lascannon might be more economical.gallery_49361_4497_72489.jpg

I thought about getting the conversion kit for the vanilla dread but ended up just getting brass inquisition icons and slapping them on there. BTW las and missle is a great combo :)
