Correct me if I'm wrong...

You can have up to 10 Grey Hunters in a pack (including one Sergeant)

They can have Bolters, a Bolt Pistol and a Close Combat Weapon (not a Bolter and Close Combat Weapon, because Bolters are a two handed weapon?)

Up to two models can replace their CCW for a Power Weapon or a Power Fist at an additional point cost (do they get to keep their bolt pistols?)

In addition two GH can replace their bolt pistols with Plasma Pistol at an additional point cost.

The Sergeant may be armed with one of the following: a power weapon, a power fist, a plasma pistol, a melta gun, or a plasma gun.

So hypothetically a GH pack could look like this.

GH x 10 /PW, PF, Melta Gun, Plasma Pistol x2

Correct?

Just trying to wrap my head around all of this.

Yep nothing wrong with that summation that I can see :)

Excepting that it states that one grey hunter may replace his close combat weapon with a power weapon or power fist, not two.

Only one grey hunter can replace his bolt pistol with a plasma pistol.

not sure about the reason for the confusion there! but hey ho!!

GH x 10 /PW, PF, Melta Gun, Plasma Pistol x2

So you could have: GH x 10 /PW OR PF, Melta Gun, Plasma Pistol x1

My fave combo at the moment is:

10 grey hunters, 1 power fist, 1 flamer (free), 1 melta gun (free as second choice weapon). A great solid unit, thats pretty all commers, but will keep moving.

Technically, Grey Hunter packs don't have sergeants...or at least they don't have to have them. The entries say that one grey hunter a MAY replace his standard loadout for equipment that you would normally find on a squad sergeant. Standard codex marines have sergeants in their tactical squads and such, we really aren't organized that way.

sounds like the old codex to me.... what codex are you using? what is on the cover?

Well a simple overlook of a Grey Hunter squads options:

5-10 GH per squad.

If the squad numbers 10 models, BEFORE adding any kind of pack leader or character of any form, you may have 2 of any of flamer/plasmagun/meltagun. If the squad numbers LESS than 10 models, 5-9, they only get one of the mentioned weapons.

A GH Squad may only have one plasma pistol by itself, only added characters including pack leaders can add more.

Space Wolves dont have Sergeants but instead you buy a pack of wolf guards from the elite section of the codex. These may then break of from their original squad and instead join squads listed in a special list in the codex to act as a sergeant of sorts. HOWEVER they are not part of the unit they are added to until the battle starts. For instance a Unit of 9 GH and a later added wolf guard still counts as only 9 when you buy flamer/plasmagun/meltagun for the GH. Note that only one wolf guard pack leader can be added to a single unit.

The wolf guard pack leader may choose any equipment that is in the list entry for wolf guard and as such may not have a meltagun or plasmagun as you suggest.

Note that the Caps are added only for clarification.

Hope this clear some things up for you.

yeah this is me just trying to figure everything out by myself using the internet.

my codex still hasn't come in so this info might be wrong.

i still don't get all of this.

i am having a hard time wrapping my brain around all of it.

its a lot of information if you haven't played 40k ever.

Again only

-2 special weapons (i.e. flamer, meltagun, or plasma gun)

-1 plasma pistol

-1 power weapon or fist

-1 wolf standard (banner)

-1 Mark of the Wulfen (this is not an actual piece of wargear, and it over-rides any cc weapon you give him, so don't give the same model a power weapon.)

Of course, left out some things there, good that you bring it out. But always worth to keep noting about the special weapons in relation to numbers "dilemma" we have. :)

Oops I forgot something else, you can only have 2 special weapons if you have 10 models in the squad.

@Sarapham@ I'm not sure what you meant.

I meant partly that which you just added, but also something I´m sure you have seen as well and that is question regarding if you can have 2 special weapons in a unit of 9 GH + 1WG "as they are 10 models". Which is of course no but still confuses many.
