Finally getting some new Wolves!

Bran Scalphunter

Recommended Posts

Thanks to a part-time job, I've got money to throw away towards my beloved Wolves. I'm more or less starting them over from scratch, making sure they look good and everything. With two pack boxes that I'm getting next week, the Scalphunters are officially being started.

But that brings me to a dilemma. How to paint the Great Company? I was thinking basecoat Chaos Black Primer, then a layer of Fenris Grey Foundation, with Shadow Grey over that. I'll use Space Wolves Grey for trim and Golden Yellow for shiny bits. Anyone have any suggestions or helpful hints for a not-so-great-as-a-painter Long Fang? Will those colors come out well over FG foundation or will they be messed up?

Cheers in advance,

Bran

K, here's what I'd do.

Buy a spray gun and assemble your models leaving the heads off. Prime with Chaos Black. Spray model with a 50/50 Shadow Grey, Space Wolves Grey mix. Paint the gold bits and then do the bolters in Boltgun Metal with a Badab Black wash. Paint the heads and glue them on then highlight the armor with Space Wolves Grey if you wish. That's pretty painless if you ask me.

I do everything I just said though I dont have a spray gun. Wish I did but just havent done it yet.

Good luck.

Did you become an assassin? Mercenary? Are you getting any special characters? Aren't they supposed to make some new thunderwolf calvalry? Right now im working on cold ones...

We need to plan that campaign...

My suggestion- take your time, especially with yellows.

Not much Bran, I know- Im not the greatest painter myself. It is good to see you in the fang again, I was wondering what kept you away.

Fallout 3, Dragon Age Origins, work, D&D, general blehness. All of which are solvable by a strong flagon of ale and some xenos to kill in Russ's name! :)

*stomps to the bar*

Gimme an ale an' a ork and make it snappy!

Actually the gold was just for things like chest eagles, shiny gubbins, that kinda gunk. The actual big part of the shoulder pad I planned on keeping black.

Edit: Got my Wolves early since my book came in yesterday.

Ended up with a Wolf Guard box, a Wolf Pack, and a Devastator box to make Long Fangs. Also got some Vallejo paints while I was there. If I can get pictures up before I prime them I will, otherwise I'll get working on them.
