Vorrt
So if this has been asked elsewhere, could someone please point me out where it has been answered. Do the sponsons on tanks count as 1 weapon system and have to fire at the same target or are they separate and can split fire on something like a land raider using machine spirit? Jeffy.Gee
Off the top of my head I'd say the same target. Unless your codex gives a specific example, I'm pretty sure it has to be the same. Interrogator-Chaplain Ezra
Each sponson is a separate weapon. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190389-tanks-a-quetion/#findComment-2256826 Share on other sites
Cptn. Palladorus
Each sponson is a separate weapon for purposes of determining how many weapons can fire, and in the case of the Land Raider, thanks to the PotMS rule one more weapon can be fired each turn than would normally be allowed for its movement speed and one weapon can be fired at a different target than the rest. Ordinarily though, all weapons on a single vehicle must be fired at the same target, unless it's a super-heavy vehicle. Grey Mage
In normal 40k all weapons in a unit must be fired at the same unit- thus, all weapons on a particular tank should be fired at the same target. Note, for weapon destroyed each weapon is seperate, and each weapon has its own fire arc and LOS. Gaz1858
Each unit can only fire at one target regardless of number of guns. This applies to infantry and tanks alike. This is only overriden by any special rules a unit may have, such as the POTMS mentioned earlier. Koremu
It's worth noting that a Hurricane Bolter sponson is one weapon system, not 3 (or 6!) In fact I can't think of a single tank with multiple weapons on a sponson... Frosty the Pyro
It's worth noting that a Hurricane Bolter sponson is one weapon system, not 3 (or 6!) In fact I can't think of a single tank with multiple weapons on a sponson... there is landraider with two twinlinked heavy bolters in each sponson, but I think thats apoc/forgeworld. Leonaides
Or the Baneblade (or variants), with HB sponsons topped with a lascannon (or something)... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190389-tanks-a-quetion/#findComment-2259629 Share on other sites
Marshal Hadrarius
Bit of topic but the razorback turret with twin linked plasma and lasscannon counts as 2 wpn systems :) not a sponsoon i know just thought i'd put it out there.
