AcidBurn
hail and well met again brothers. Today i am transforming a Tech marine into a iron priest. ive never thought of using an iron priest before however i have plans for an army that has 3 whirlwinds in it so i thought that taking an iron priest would be handy, i personally hate our model the pose is far too rigid and its out of proportion with the new stuff , granted is was made Russ knows how many years ago but oh well. soooo these are some of the steps i have taken to wolfing up a normal marine tech marine the first thing i did was add something wolfy to the torso, i diddnt want to do anything too drastic because it is such a nice model, so i just clipped the horns of the horned rat symbol and there Bobs your uncle a wolf head. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/DSC_0091.jpg the second thing i did was to wolf up one of the servo arms, i achieved this by simply clipping sown the wolf bit from out power axe and replacing the end of the servo arm/claw/grabber with it. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/DSC_0090.jpg thirdly i changed the top of the servo harness with one of the wolf skull bits from a space wolf back pack http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/DSC_0096.jpg now the thunder hammer. this was really a no brainer http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/DSC_0092.jpg now brothers this is where i need you opinions. does the hammer look too long? http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/DSC_0095.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/DSC_0094.jpg and also should i leave the head the way it is? Or should i sculpt a beard or remove the head all togeather and use a different one? Ok and now for his servitors. ive got to say these guys were very fun to make http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/DSC_0098.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/DSC_0097.jpg Im just going to say this is my favorite servitor, when i had finished him i looked at him and just laughed the expression on his face and the way in which he is looking at his chainsaw arm is just laugh out loud funny its like hes yelling "ARRRGH what have you done me!!!!" even though a servitor probably wouldnt talk, being a mindless thrall and all http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/DSC_0099.jpg ok more updates later C&C welcome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190454-tech-marine-to-iron-priest/ Share on other sites
commander alexander
I would say use a different head, or change it, If it were the other kind of head that model came with you could leave it. It irks me that Iron priests dont have some of the weapon options that space marines do though... I mean plasma pistol really ;) ? Hfran Morkai
I don't think the hammer is too long but it looks slightly wonky at the minute, I appreciate it's a WIP and I also know how hard it can be to get straight lines with some components (like when I tried making my plastic crozius) However I love your servitors, a great idea for them. You've given me some ideas for when I work on my hybrid (just taking the servo harness and sticking it to a plastic torso) Look forward to seeing an underused character when he's ready to fix them tanks. AcidBurn
bit of an update: finally stuck him together and by the Balls of Russ this needed soooo much pinning, talk about a nightmare. in thinking of removing his head with a dremel and using the wolf helm, or mabe one of the other heads. Alternatively i could just sculpt some hair over the origional head? http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/22012010143.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/22012010145.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/22012010148.jpg sorry about the poor quality of the pics but the battery on my DSLR just ran out so i had to use my phone also heres a little treat for you all, the unveiling of one of my lone wolves, inspired by the picture next to the lone wolves entry http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/22012010149.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/22012010150.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/22012010151.jpg i cant decide weather or not i like this shield arm on him either though http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/22012010152.jpg http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w122/greatjojoman/22012010153.jpg what do you think? not bad for a few hours work eh? AcidBurn
well after thinking it over for a while i have decided not to remove his head or do anything to it as i am worried that i will wreck the model. i will be priming the iron priest soon but i was wondering the other day, what colours do do our iron priests use? and what colours have people on the fang used on our not so commonly used iron priest? Beef
My iron priest have always been grey, you could perhaps do one arm or shoulder pad red to tie in with mars. AcidBurn
is that to tie in with your colour scheme Beef? coz i was thinking of doing him all white on his armour to tie in with all my tanks being white also? the red shoulder pad is a nice idea aswell. i was origionaly thinking of having his armour a very dark metallic colour like my wolf priest but i dismissed this idea as i would be doing the servo arms metallic aswell (too much silver lol) any more ideas are welcome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190454-tech-marine-to-iron-priest/#findComment-2267447 Share on other sites
Skrubb
I love your lone wolves and especially the servitors! When it comes to the iron priest, I could not disagree more with you! I love the model! No, he is not very dynamic. I guess he is considering something. He is not swinging his axe, but keeping his eyes and mind on the situation of the machine spirits on the table. It is a great miniature that I would use as a basis if I was to convert up a new one with a servo-harness. That said, your work is good. My Iron priest has a lot of metallics on him. As it seems you have a lot of metallics on the other miniatures, I guess you would have to use special metallics to make him stand out. Oh! And beard? No thanks! A long beard could easlily get tangled up in the cogs off something. That could annoy both machine spirit and the iron priest himself. I a convinced the iron priest has a clean shave all over, or possibly had his hair permanently removed. I hope we will never get to see the face of one, though.
