Tybrus
Well Tonight will be my first game as a Wolf since I played back in RT days. I will be fielding a number of my old RT Army (SOme pictures to follow, along with battle report) Here is the set up for the Game, I will give a turn by turn account (if I don't get to drunk while playing) and try and post some picks. Battle Intro A veil Planetary Governor has sold his soul to Chaos and is planning on using the lives of his whole world as a sacrifice to the warp to gain power. He has a Loyal House Hold guard that knows nothing of his plans but has served his family for the last 10 generations. They are held up in the Governors Palace in the Center of the Capital City. About two months ago a small force of Space Marines joined the Governor, and they have been fortifying the palace and city against planetary assault every since. The Forces of the Planet have been told that forces of Chaos will attack soon and they will need to be ready to hold out. An Inquisition team that had been on planet at the time heard of this “attack”, and were able to find that the “Marines” were really one of the Fallen Chapters of Chaos. They sent word out calling for Imperial Support just before they were captured and killed. Word reached A Ragnar's Great Company of Space Wolves that were returning to the fang after a long Campaign. Being ill equipped for a full planetary assault the Wolf Lord decides that a Fast Assault to behead the snake will be the best tactic. His forces already understrength due the recent compleation of a campain near the Eye of Terror, would be hard pressed in the comming battle. Battle First Turn uses Night Fighting Rules Game lasts for 6 Turns a 7th Turn is played on a 4+ Defender 3000 Points of Imperial Guard 1 normal FOC (Must Take Creed to Act as the Governor) 1000 Points of Chaos (Troops Only) Full Control of setting up the Table (Reasonable Auto Defenses for the Palace included) Table must reflect the heart of an Imperial City that has received a surgical and recent Orbital Bombardment with a Central Palace. The Governor Will be held up within the Palace. Tybrus
Well the game went down last night and was a blast. We made some changes to the battle plan during the game I had an attachment of my 13th company (More aboutt his later) that I decided after turn one (They were in reserve) would not be used so the final total was about 2700k points of Space Wolves Vs. 3000k IG, and 1k Chaos Troops. Due to the agreed rules, wolfguard were allowed to be assigned to units as desired, reguardless of normal rules. Wolves Army Battle Plan: Ragnar would devide his ramining Wolfguard among the 4 depleated Grey Hunter Squads he had Remining. He would Devide his sole BLoodclaw squad into two supported by a wolfgaurd each and send them in with the other assulting pods. Ragnar himself would join one of the Grey Hunter Squads. Lastly Arjac and 4 Members of Logans Wolf Guard were with them and would lead the battle in there TDA and Thunderhammers witht he rest of the force. Ragnar Ordered all pods to be fitted with Deathwind Lunchers and the Strike Cruiser moved in to attack. Pod 1: Njal In TDA 1 WGBL in PA, Warrior Born, Storm SHield, and Frost Ax 1 Wolf Guard in PA, Storm Shield, Frost Blade 8 Wolf Guard with Power Weapons Pod 2: Arjac 3 TDA with TH & SS 1 TDA with Cyclone, and SB, and SS Pod 3: Ragnar 1 GH Powerweapon/Standard/Meltagun 1 Wulfen 1 with Plasma Pistol 1 WG with Thunderhammer and StormBolter 5 GH Pod 4: 5 GH 1 GH/Metla/Standard/Powerweapon 1 Wulfen 1 with Plasma Pistol 1 WG TDA Cyclone, Storm bolter, PowerFist Pod 5: 5 GH 1 GH/Metla/Standard/Powerweapon 1 Wulfen 1 with Plasma Pistol 1 WG TDA Assault Cannon, ChainFist Pod 6: 5 GH 1 GH/Metla/Standard/Powerweapon 1 Wulfen 1 with Plasma Pistol 1 WG TDA Assault Cannon, ChainFist Pod 7: 7 Blood Claws 1 WG TDA Pair Wolfclaws Pod 8: 8 Blood Claws 1 WG in PA with Pair of WolfClaws Wolf Scouts: 6 Wolf Scouts 1 Wulfen 1 Meltagun 2 PlasmaPistols (All <but the Wulfen> have Meltabombs) I don't have the full list for what we faced but here is what I can recall 2 Squads of 20 Khorne Zerkers (The Body Guards all tooled up) 20 Heavy Weapons Teams (3 Lascanon Teams, and 17 AutoCannon Teams) 3 Lemen Russ Tanks with Lascanons 3 Lemen Russ Tanks with Quad Auto Cannons 3 Basalisks 1 vendetta 4 60 man troops squads (Not sure how these work but TONS OF FLESH) Random Command Squads, and other things but this was most of it as I recall. More info to come after lunch... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190482-battle-report-assault-on/#findComment-2258940 Share on other sites

Yeah when I set this story up for the game I had pictured small 5 to 10 man groups of Alpha or recently fallen Chapter, maybe even some sly Iron Warriors. Ohh well My buddy was blunt about it "I wanted something to stop those Damn wolvs in Hand to hand" when I aske dhim why the Zerkers. Ohh well, it was still a great battle, and as soon as I have time I will tell more about it. It was EPIC!!!
