Looking for a Chimera

I want to get a Chimera but my LGS does not have one on the shelf. They have other IG tanks but I do not know which one I could get and still be able to make a Chimera. This is like why buy a Rhino if you can get a Razorback and have both, you know?

 

Anyone know IG tanks well enough to tell me which tank can be built from which kit? Thanks! :)

Only a Chimera kit can build a Chimera. The next closest option is to convert a passenger compartment for the Hellhound, and replace its turret weapons with the appropriate heavy bolters or multilasers. The new Hellhound kit also looks a little better, and has a slightly different side armour plate compared to the older Chimera and Basilisk kits.

You may need to be patient. A new Chimera kit is shortly to be released, so all the current ones aren't being replaced. They're just getting bought ... and you'll have to wait for the new kit before you can get one fresh.

 

It'll be worth it. Having built one of the "old" ("current" as of today, of course) ... it was a MAJOR pain in the ass. Terrible, terrible kit. I'm looking forward to the new one.
