No, the right shoulder pad isn't DA specific, its just that style is most commonly seen on Dark Angels for whatever reason. The current marine codex actually has Ultrasmurfs with the horizontal arrows, so its all cool.

With regards to the painting, I can't make out whether or not they have been undercoated, some look like they have, and some don't. The painting is neat, if slightly patchy, maybe giving several thin coats would help prevent this, as well as whacking on a couple of washes. Then again, I am not a great painter myself, but thats just my two cents.

Cheers, ID.

Not bad for a start. As mentioned previously, slightly patchy but with a little work thats easily sorted. You might like to try Asurman Blue wash over the models - should help add some depth to them.

Great start - keep it up.

Thanks for all the comments. I keep all that in mind. Please take a look below. I have add some highlights to the first squad. Still a ways to go on them. Lots of touch ups and Clean ups are needed. I hope to have them done my mid Feb, then I can start on the next squad. Please let me know what you think C&C are always welcome.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

I like they way they came out too. Using the GW air gun from 12" way gives them a grainy look. I also did do a few coats of wash. I like the armour looking shiny so I spayed them in 'Ard coat. Please see the new pick below. I just have to throw the decals on put Matt varnish on the faces and purity seals and do the basing. Then I can start on the 2nd squad.

Please let me know what you think

For first time mini's they're looking pretty good. I wasn't so sure from the initial photos though. I like the deeper blue you've gone for on the armour, and I agree the gainy look adds some depth to the large areas of colour.

Very nice use of the metal shoulder pads too, I'm not the biggest fan of them because they look a bit dodgy sometimes, but your paintwork makes them look good :P. You seem to be off to a good start with harsh edge highlighting as well, it really makes the mini's 'pop'.

I look forward to seeing more of your work in future

Thanks POS.

I have seen some of your work. So this is high praise indeed. I should clarify. I have painted minis in the past. Just nothing to this caliber. This is just the first time I had the guts to post them. That's Why I'm working so hard on them. I had no idea painting well could be soo time consuming. Oh well back at it. Decals are done. Just need to do the bases. Pics to come soon

Everyone has to start somewhere Brother. I think that's one of the greatest things about this Forum; it makes you push yourself harder within this hobby. Not only that but it provides the resources for us to do so as well.

I think my first mini I posted is awful compared to what I'm able to do now and it's thanks to the help and pushing, of people on here that I can do it. I think you're going to fit in around here just fine :)

oh and about the taking time thing, painting well can take a long time. But like many things in life the more you put in the more you get out. There's nothing like finishing a great mini, then putting it on display, on here, or in your home/local store/gaming club and everytime you see it you can think to yourself 'I did that'. Well I find it satisfying anyway, but as soon as one thing's finished, there's always something else to paint.....

You are so right POS. The LPC has really pushed me to complete my squads, It helps me to do my best and not take the "lazy" way out.

Some pics of my bases in different stages. I like the way they are coming out. I still time to make changes to them. So if you have any thoughts I would like to here them.

I like these a lot but in places the white highlights are a little too different to the base colour. A simple solution would be to water down your blue wash and give them a light glazing to make them slightly tinted blue. Otherwise they look great!
