Njal and the Rune Priests

So, after reading through my codex, I have wondered how have the rune priests and Njal worked for you guys? The rules and all seem very very awesome, and I want to try running a few, but wanted to know how efective these guys have been for you.

++EDIT++ Can someone move this to the general section for the SW, thanks.

Rune priests have worked really well for me. Granted the only games I have gotten in were against Eldar. And the Nullifying of psychic powers messes stuff up so bad that my buddy says he may no longer bring a Farseer to games. Hahaha. One game I played, first turn my Rune Priest took out 5 dark reapers with lving lightning. Granted, that was very lucky; but, I approve!

I have not used Njal yet but I am playing in a large game this weekend and will be using him. It is a "How long can you survive vs. nids." game.

I have been using Njal for a while and it really depends on what your facing to be effective,

For instance, today i fought my friends Eldar (whom i dearly hate) and first turn Njal was insta killed by a wraithlords missile launcher, this also happend to a rune priest a few games back.

Powers wise, he is awesome, JOTWW is as usefull as everyone says it is and murderous hurracane rips footslogging hordes to death, mainly because it makes them in dangerous terrain next turn.

well for me, Njal didn't do a thing, he went up against eldar and i had to roll 3 dice for powers.... all it took was a wound from shooting and rolling a 1,6,6 for one test and well i think you get it....

and the only other time i really went to try one out, i forgot to put him on the table....

They're crazy effective. I always take living lightning, its a great general use shooting attack. JotWW is brutal against low initiative armies, I've ruined many a necron and ork player's plans with the damage it can do to a gun line. Murderous Hurricane is another personal favorite, its used as much to slow down units running at you as to inflict casualties.

And remember, Nyal can't fire two shooting attacks in a turn, so go ahead and drop storm caller or tempest's wrath if it has even a chance of helping you.

Against eldar, don't bother using any powers, just get him near them and let him null whatever he can on 3+ Normally though, I'd switch him out if you can.
