xa0s
I just feel compelled to include this link to Aerion the Faithful's drawing rendering for those who are familiar with Ravenor series to view the drawing he did. I'm completely blown away. However, I hope you, espeically Aerion, do not mind me to post a link to his gallery work he did portraying our Ordos Inquisition's famous (infamous, whichever your POV is)!! If I'm not allowed to, I apologize firsthand. Enjoy! Gideon Ravenor and his posse! My guess is from clockwise starting with Slythe (upper right corner of a dude with metal skull and arm) Wystan Frauka, Interrogator Carl Thonius, Zael Efferneti, Inquisitor Gideon Ravenor (post Thracian disaster/Pre), The Chair, Kara Swole, Harlon Nayl (TOUGH BASTARD!), Zeph Mathius, and Patience Kys. Wystan Frauka was basically not what I imagined as I read the Ravenor series. Slythe, I was imagining a bit more Adeptus Mechanius type. There's one daemon I wish Aerion got to draw of -- some "old old old" demon that has wing and clacks its fingers-scissors-like in complete gold. I recon I did post a topic about it on this section of the forum a long while back. Incubalous or something like that. Can't reckon the spelling as well. RexTalon
I always imagined Frauka as being a little thicker/fattier. I mean, all he does is sit around and read porn and smoke. He must be fat by now. The chair I imagined looking like Captain Pike's chair from the old Star Trek series. Marid
I imagined the chair as something a bit more substantial. It needs to show suspensors and Psycannons somehow. Also, wasn't he supposed to be in a more fetal position? Anyway, I'm glad I read the books before seeing this picture. As wrote this I thought of the Daleks, but that would be a bit silly. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190815-ravenor-by-aerion-the-faithful/#findComment-2267233 Share on other sites
- 7eAL -
I always imagined Frauka as being a little thicker/fattier. I mean, all he does is sit around and read porn and smoke. He must be fat by now. Smoking keeps Frauka's weight down, since it kills both appetite and taste. Harlon Nayl has a bit of a Samwise Didier thing going on in that his hands are as big as his head, but I suppose Aerion's style has always has those proportions in common with Samwise. I am pleased that none of them have a swirl-chin, as it is entirely too common in Aerion's work and most unfortunately, it reminds me of Disney's Hercules. I don't think I could take Gideon Ravenor seriously if he had a swirl-chin. Everyone is a little bit sunken in the spot between the eyebrows, though it's okay because it extends the shadows around the eyes for expressive gloom. Alas, what a face Gideon had. What a face Gideon has. The contrast is excellent; it brings out all the pity, disappointment and bitterness I can spare. In my bottomless vanity, I would not wish such a loss even upon my enemies. River Black
Everyone is pretty much how I pictured them. The only one that isn’t how I imagined is Kara. Although I could figure out who she was by body type I visualized her as being darker skinned and with dark hair. Does it say somewhere in the books that she had red hair? If it does I missed it in all three. I also pictured the chair as having more of a curved dome shape to it. Like those ball and egg chairs that grew popular during the 1970s? Aarnio Eero's ball chair and Henrik Thor-Larsen's Ovalia egg chair? Aarnio Eero's ball chair and Henrik Thor-Larsen's Ovalia egg chair? Yeah, kind of like that, only enclosed in the front of course. An egg with Ravenor floating in liquid in the fetal position, like a babe in the womb. Only with psycannons. And red-haired peeps usually have white fair skin. I thought she was Khys, and the dark-haired older woman in the back was Kara Swole. Zeph is awesome, but it's a pity we can't see his gatling arm. Zael apparently makes a very cute pouty teenager, heh. I always imagined the Chair to be as wide as it is tall, though part of me agrees that that's silly (I could never figure our how to fit it through doors). Of course, that could be before the redesign (the Chair is different in Eisenhorne III than Ravenor I, since it's unarmed and protected with a holofield in Hereticus, but has twin psycannons and no shields in Ravenor).
