Malus the Destroyer
Do you guys assemble and then paint? Or do you paint the pieces before assembly? I'm gluing my Justicar together now, but it looks like it's going to be more difficult to point properly because of overlap. Magnus Thane
In the past I've always assembled and than painted but since starting GK's, I've changed it and painted before assembling. (except for the assembled mini's I bought online) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190825-gkt-assembly-and-painting/#findComment-2262809 Share on other sites
MuGGzy
Since I pin the hell out of every joint, I assemble before prime and paint. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190825-gkt-assembly-and-painting/#findComment-2263223 Share on other sites
Grand Master Caloth
definately on the pinning... ESP the PAGK. the Terms have nubs that help keep the arm attached, but pinning doesnt hurt with them either. stoopicus
Yep. Every time I am tempted to buy another PAGK squad I remember the effort put in to drilling and pinning the first 30 :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190825-gkt-assembly-and-painting/#findComment-2265731 Share on other sites
- 7eAL -
The nice thing about Grey Knights is that they don't hold anything across the chest, or in other positions that cover important places. Thus, painting after assembly is perfectly acceptable. However, my Grey Knights are so heavily modified that painting after assembly simply is not possible - everything has to be in the right place at the right angle and all the gaps must be mended and smoothed with putty, before any primer ever touches the metal. It is difficult to assemble after painting, because the glues and putties will adhere to the paint instead of the metal and can therefore be easily pried apart. Assembly after painting is much easier with plastic, as the plastic glue simply eats through the paint and binds it along with everything else, though I can't really do this because I tend to use a little too much plastic glue. wizard12
I did my terminators speratly to get a nicer paint job (I'm not that good so I find that if I can do things slowly and seperatly I can get really nice paint jobs) The problem with painting GK's when assembled to me it that, because their metal I find that my style of painting (Rough) tends to break the models so I think it sort of depends on you painting style Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190825-gkt-assembly-and-painting/#findComment-2276133 Share on other sites
