Distinguishing rune priests

Dread Wolf Master

Recommended Posts

Evening brothers,

Need some tips on either painting schemes or bit mods that could distinguish the GW generic rune priest from the other wolves.

Just off the top of my head i was thinking doing a limb or two in shadow grey (My army has a codex grey base with gold trim and scab red shoulders.)

Any brother who can give me a tip or two is welcome to a pint of ale on me.

Codex marines paint their librarians blue...the codex astartes means nothing to the wolves, but it would make yuor rune priest stand out, and if anyone talks smack about him say he's honoring the traditions of the other chapters.

Mine is blue...so take that njal.

I currently use a dark grey for my guys. i base it with fenris grey foundation. and then go lightly(if it is really possible i can't tell) with adeptus battlegrey, the codex grey. for my RPs i plan on forgoing the adeptus to make them a little more blueish in color.
Runes and model aside the paint scheme of my Rune Priest doesn't differ from the rest. The most distinguishing parts aside from the runes are the lack of a Great Company shoulder pad and that he has a white wolf pelt instead of a grey one that most of my wolves have - an idea I have from a snippet of old Rune Priest fluff (second edition perhaps?) that I recall reading somewhere.
I made mine out of a DA veteran... robes and a hooded helmet, with SW backpack and Shoulderpad, crux terminatus on the other side. A wizened staff in one hand, a lightning claw in the other *counts now as his runic weapon I spose*.
