Objective markers.

Well I just can't help it, I go and get sidetracked constantly.. turnament coming up and I have stuff to paint, the vow in effect, and I still get sidetracked ;)

But what the heck, it's more fun that way!

Here are some objective markers I'm working on ( the 1st I've showed before, but its been slightly updated ). As is I have no clue as what to do for the 3rd ( since I feel 3 obj. markers is a good number ).

Obj 1. Fallen Hero

Obj 2. Sacred Banners

http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z104/Asrech/ObjectiveWip002.jpg

Now the banner one I just did and althought the stone floor might be a bit meh in quality it's my first attempt at it, so I'm happy enough. I only have greenstuff and bts to work with as well, I really need to go on a plasticard shopping run..

The flags are not attached, so they wont be as crooked later on as they are now. They'll be painted as squad banners, not company colors, since that would be TO holy to be a "reclaim" objective...

Now with these two I hope to capture 2 of the cores of SM life, 1. Geneseed and 2. Honour. The question is what to do for the 3rd???

I was considering going with Weaponry and see if I have enough bolters to make a gun rack, but that seems wrong to me since a bolter is a highly personal item, and not something that is stored en-masse and just handed out as people run past..

What are your thoughts? ( Both on the two above and the upcoming 3rd )

Cheers!

What if you modeled the bolters as a crate of new ones, fresh from the forge world for new space marine recruits?

I really like the fallen hero. great job on the robes. Not a huge fan of the banners. The rear banners are just too high in my opinion. I would place all of them on the same level, maybe all without the wire lenghtener. For the third, I think a fallen or an informant would be cool.

I have found that 5 objectives is a good number to make.

Thanks, I'm happy with how the robes came out in the end.

I'm warming up to the fresh-from the forge idea and managed to dig out about 6-7 bolters from the bitbox, most missing the handle as they've been used, but I can still use them as being "packed in". The issue though is how to do the crate itself, since I don't have any plasticard ><.

I also have 3 heavy bolters from servitors that I'm thinking about using.

So if anyone knows of good ways to make crates, let me know!!

5 Is indeed a good number, but for starters I'm aiming for 3, later on though..... ;) So more ideas are always welcome!! :)

Here's an idea for a big objective.

I got the idea from another picture I saw on this site.

Take a Space Marine vehicle, maybe a Land Raider.

Make it look ruined, tracks missing, etc.

Model it so it's sort of sticking out of the ground.

Add some sandbags and defensive options, so that it is converted into a bunker.

I spy classic Termi Serg Power weapon! (right hand of the fallen hero). I quite liked the GS'ed floor, looked very rustic or well-worn by the passage of hundreds of feet.

Ok, what are Space Marines? The Imperium's spearhead assault force, take out the head of the rebellion and the IG mop up the rest etc, how about a target for the Marines to silence, maybe the top of a missile silo or a SAM site, that would be easy enough to model with a couple of havoc launchers and maybe a teleport homer (hi-gain Auspex). Some kind of Shield generator, command console (inner Rhino section) barrel for fuel, spare dread "back pack" for generator and some gubbins for the emitter. There's also the classis rebel commander to execute/extract and torture. An expensive, but a downed Land Speeder might be a better (smaller + cheaper) option than a wrecked tank.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! Lot of great ideas here :P

The thing is that I want to keep the size down to a termie base ( or poker chip as these are ), so that it can be placed without being "cover" or obscuring for the game itself.

I like the tome idea as well as the com-relay/auspex idea... now I'm wondering if I have a locator beacon around here anywhere....

Cyrl; Actually it's the sword from the AoBR commander. Had one that had broken clean of in the middle, andplastic that thin just wont get repaired right, so cut into it to make the break less clean. The floor I'm happy with esp since it's a first-attempt experiment.

If you're still thinking of trying something of a weapons dump but would still rather not use boltguns, you might consider a crate of boltgun magazines and/or grenades -- something far less personal, which marines likely go through by the truckload.

Yeah I like the supply dump / weapons cache but I'll need some plasticard first so that I can make the crates for it.

Did some scaveging through my bitbox and ended up with this!

A sensory array / com tower, still Wip but I like where it's going so far. The bundle of loose cables are inspred by the way you see in titans and other massive things that tend to use neuro-links, meaning that the "observer" can plugg into the arrey to litterally see the landscape himself. And stuff like that is to me the trademark of 40k, that you have insanely advanced tech, mixed with utter lack of understanding for the way it works.

So that makes 3, with an upcoming 4th ( weapons/granades etc ) But I still need a 5th.. And the limiter is as said that it needs to fit on a terminator base ( which means that there are a gazillion awesome things that would simply be to big >< )

If you are planning on doing a tome/book thing then the best I can suggest is the master of the ravenwing's book thing from the ravenwing sprue-comple with DA icons and would fit on a 40mil base. Could be mounted on some plith or in the hands of a dead marine.

Even though you seem to be sorted for ideas, here are a few of my objective markers for that extra little

push.... ;)

Back when World Eaters had the Talisman of Burning Blood:

Misc equipment dump:

Khorne Marker:

Misc marker:

The neat thing about objective markers is that you can make them specifically for your army which allows your creativity

to run wild.

Good luck with your builds.

Thanks,

Tom

Nice work, I got bored of doing shoulder pads, trim and putting together a Defiler this weekend so spent some time tredging through my bits boxes to make some of my own. I have an ammo pile and a "warp portal generator" (I have no idea what this is, or does but it sounded like something a crazy Chaos Sorcerer would make/use, maybe in game to make all deep striking units land anywhere I want, or all outstanding reserves come in at his command) and have also started on an eldar looking book on a stand that a Sorcerer, Inquisitor or Wraithlord may want for themselves...

Objective markers are a nice break from what you're regularly doing and gives you something slightly out of the box to focus on.

On these markers, I like them. They scream "bit box boredom", which is always fun! I particularly like the Sensor array. Nice work.
