Cpt. Bannockburn
Having finished my venerable dread, I've found myself once again without motivation for painting albeit having a lot of it to do (and usually not despising it). So this here is another self motivational thread with pictures for what I'm doing at the moment. This time it will contain everything I've left to do. I will try to prioritize the projects from I to III, with III being the lowest priority. Apologies for the quality of some of the pictures, the flash is really doing a number on the models. Priority I 15 terminators in various stages, from detail work to highlights and detail (no picture yet as they are in my bag) 1 Land Raider Crusader: details left to do (pictures later as well) A group shot is here, the LR on the left is the one where details and weathering are needed 1 terminator Librarian (Space Hulk): converted and started painting The robe isn't highlighted, it's just the flash ;) 1 Fortress of Redemption: Walkway section, lascannon turret section, tower section, also the silo bunker needs a bit detail work I think you can see the direction I'm taking with it already. Yes, that's a BF:G battle ship, but it's not power armour related so I've never posted those ships here. Maybe I'll do it when I start my DA fleet section ;) On top that's a Master of the Ravenwing speeder, you'll find him later. Now, those are 4 big projects, I'll do them in the following order: Fortress of Redemption Land Raider Crusader DW Librarian Terminators Priority II Another 5 terminators 1 Land Raider Crusader with FW doors to ride in style, needs more bling before priming 1 predator I'll start those three projects with finishing the predator followed by the LRC and then the terminators, giving me 20 terminators total Priority III Assorted stuff: 1 drop pod 1 devastator squad 1 Black Reach tactical squad (three marines missing from the picture because they're already painted) 15 assault marines As you can see, some of those are already started, I bought the rest yesterday for a bargain and this means I only need one more box to finish the assault part of my 5th company! 5 veterans One of those will be a cypher stand in (the one with the two pistols and the sword) because I love the look of the model ^_^ 1 Belial conversion with storm shield and thunder hammer 1 Master of the Ravenwing speeder 1 Master of the Ravenwing bike (primed) Also, I still have 11 Space Hulk terminators which need bases, conversion and primer, taking my total number of terminators up to 30 plus a SB/PW Belial Order of those projects: None yet, I will probably paint up parts of the assorted bits up in between the other projects, as needed or wanted. When I'm done with all this I plan to buy another three tactical squad boxes, one assault squad box and one devastator box to complete my 5th company. In the long run, I'll also buy another Razorback as a devastator ride and three rhinos (or rather: rhino chassis vehicles) to complete their transports. After that, I need 2 vindicators and a whirlwind (maybe this will be one of the rhino chassis vehicles) to have all available vehicle options  When THIS is complete, I'll bulk out the DW with another 10 terminators with FW shoulderpads as well as a terminator chaplain This should bring me to about 8500 points overall and also to the one point where I need to re-evaluate my urge to buy plastic soldiers ;) So, in the foreseeable future I will update this thread sporadically to motivate myself with the progress and entertain you with my tardiness. Hope to see you dropping in and leaving comments and criticism! Cpt. INKS
many of the models look nice thought in honesty it's hard to tell as your flash is making some of them difficult to see. Isiah
Hmm that's quite a lot of stuff to get through - the cleaning and dusting alone will be a challenge :) - so best of luck. Glad to see a pair of autocannon dread arms in there and a couple of plasma arms already on :) . Cheers I Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190972-cpt-bannockburns-repository-of-projects/#findComment-2265701 Share on other sites
Cpt. Bannockburn
Now for the first update I didn't get much done, due to exams, but I found some time to work on the FoR bunker. It now only needs a few metallics and a bit of detail work on the door side and inside the fortifications (cables and such) Top view: Side view: Also, because I finally got around priming and glueing the model, I started on the MotRW-Jetbike. Here's what I've got so far: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190972-cpt-bannockburns-repository-of-projects/#findComment-2304025 Share on other sites
Cpt. Bannockburn
Another update for Sammael! I managed to get all the base colours down and started the first highlight of what's to be white in the finished product. His base is sadly lacking at the moment, but I'll remedy that after he's finished Book and upper body aren't glued yet Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190972-cpt-bannockburns-repository-of-projects/#findComment-2306139 Share on other sites

krewl
Stylish, what's your technique on the robe, cape and wings on the front? I like the effect of a bit of a blue tint you have in there. Cpt. Bannockburn
Thanks for the praise. It's a simple layering of shadow grey, space wolves grey, followed by skull white (add water as needed :tu: ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190972-cpt-bannockburns-repository-of-projects/#findComment-2308426 Share on other sites
Cpt. Bannockburn
The Master of the Ravenwing has been done for some while, but I had to repair him after his first tournament :D So, here are the final pictures: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190972-cpt-bannockburns-repository-of-projects/#findComment-2333326 Share on other sites

Gillyfish
Very nicely painted indeed - I particularly like the blue you've used. Subtle, yet gives a slick, machine like feel to the model. Cpt. Bannockburn
Thank you all for the kind comments! :D Here's the next project, the DW Librarian (Space Hulk model) Front view: Back view: Those are the base colours with which I'll work. The armour will get another few highlights, after that I'll concentrate on the details. Any suggestions on which colour the force weapon should be? My usual power weapons are blueish white and I want to have a contrast. The initial thought was to make it purple or green and I'd like to hear your opinions. Cpt. Bannockburn
Well, as usual, I've taken some time (mostly because of exams, which went exceptionally well :P ) and, also as usual, I've not stuck with the order I've made for myself in painting the models. However, there are good news: I've almost finished the Space Hulk Librarian and here's how he looks now. I still need to paint the face and wash the gold as well as create a suitable base for 40k purposes, but overall I'm pleased how he turned out. Nevertheless I'm still a bit unhappy with the force axe and pondering about colour or details, lightning or somesuch. Any comments about it would be appreciated :P I've also rewarded myself for the exams with a box of sanguinary guard for conversion purposes. Firstly, I've pried the backpack off Captain Duma and painted up a winged one for him. His positioning doesn't really fit well with the winged jump pack but I like how it turned out. Both backpack options are now magnetized. It's not finished yet, needs a blueish backwash from the exhale points and varnish, but here are two pictures: Furthermore, I've built a kind of company champion from other parts. The pictures are more out of focus than usual, but I think you can get the drift. I started building and priming the LRC with FW parts and here's how it looks at the moment: Obviously not very far along. It's not totally glued together yet to allow me to work at the interior. I'm also pondering about a LED light inside, but given my inability with these kinds of microelectronics, I'll probably scratch that idea. Lastly, my Culln has arrived and I've build and 'converted' him and slapped some base colours on him. The conversion is actually minimal, just filed off the Red Scorpions insignia, added some brass etch and the bulky DW shoulderguards. For comparison, I'll also show the finished (and well worn) TLC and the TH/SS variant I'm working on. brennus
The Cullin conversion has the potential to be a sweet model. Very nice. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/190972-cpt-bannockburns-repository-of-projects/#findComment-2466548 Share on other sites
