Ferrata

Recommended Posts

1. Yes

2. When I need to, i.e. when thinking of a new IA, after a break, or when I believe myself stuck.

3. A Guide to DIYing, followed by Sources and Tools

4. Guides to: Astartes and the Imperium + Guides to: The Enemy

Other sections are fine, I believe a section on Astartes and the Imperial Army would be useful

5. There's already a wealth of information shared within those guides, they are a much helpful set of references for DIYing.

6. Yes

7. When I need to, i.e. when wanting to flesh out the Chapter by making references to events from GW canon

8. They are OK

9. Yes

10. The Foundings and the Age of Apostasy. Most others are stubs that don't give much information to understand them.

11. Old Foes - Orks + New Foes - Necrons

12. This section offers great information to tie a Chapter with imperial history. It needs to be detailed. I'd probably wait for the end of the Horus Heresy Novels before reviewing the HH part.

13. Once

14. Never, I view it as a place where your IA is accessible once it is finalised.

15. Yes

16. Yes, after trying.

17. It's good as is.

18. No

19. Okay

20. It really was useful

21. When I can, and find a chapter that's intriguing me. All in all, I'd wish I could do it weekly.

The Guide to DIYing

1.Have you read the DIY Guide?

•Yes

2.How often do you read/refer to it?

•When I need to.

3.Which section is most important to you?

All of it.

4.Which section would you focus on expanding?

I think the focus for the DIY should be on beginners just getting used to writing IA's and the Liber. Basic Information and the Guide Itself would be best.

5.Any other comments?

The guide is good but it rarely gets updated with the good oil from the topics created by liber-ites to forward their own personal brand of encouragement and advice, though admitedly with a selfish angle of not having to copy and paste replies to new threads.

Time Line

6.Have you read the Time Line?

•Yes

7.How often do you read/refer to it?

•Frequently

8.Do you like the Snapbacks (red arrows)?

Doesn't bother me either way, links or snapbacks.

9.Would you prefer standard links?

As above.

10.Which of the articles is the most valuable to you?

•The Time Line itself

11.Which of the articles would you like finishing/expanding?

•The Time Line itself

12.Any other comments?

The Time Line itself is used in the Liber as a guide for where to base your chapter in galactic events, determining when a conflict took place or when your chapter is founded to be a few thousand years old by the most recent Imperial date.

While the large events like the Heresy and Armageddon are good to have, they are minutae, they are old and mostly locked conflicts. In the spirit of the Liber I'd say focus more on whats useful to a DIY'er rather than dating each conflict down to the minute.

Liber Honouros Index

13.Have you used the Honouros?

•Yes

14.How often do you refer to it?

•Yes but needs updating, as said previously.

16.Do you realise the images are links to the articles?

•Yes

17.What other information would you like to see?

Nothing really

18.Any other comments?

Liber Astartes

19.How do you find the atmosphere in Liber?

•Great

20.How would you rate the feedback you have received?

It varies. Sometimes you get great feedback and continue to work with a few individuals to almost as you said, co-author the entire article. Other times you get one liners and 'what is their symbol/colour scheme' questions that can often be frustrating.

21.How often do you give feedback?

•Ouch my fingers (and eyes)

22.How would you improve Liber?

Well, other than having an easy to access database of all official fluff or what is considered 'canon' for general Liber-ites above and beyond the immediate do's and do not's of the Guide. That said listing official material could land everyone in very hot water so I fully realise the futility of the statement, I just thought it might be nice to have.

1. Have you read the DIY Guide?

Yes.

2.How often do you read/refer to it?

5. Any other comments?

Keep up the good work.

Time Line

Similarly to the Guide, the Time Line has never been 100% finished. Whilst it could come under the Guide section, I wanted to talk about it specifically.

6.Have you read the Time Line?

Yes.

7. How often do you read/refer to it?

Rarely.

8.Do you like the Snapbacks (red arrows)?

Liber Honouros Index

The Liber Honouros Index is our great link to the Librarium. I like to think I keep it fairly up-to-date (I do realise two more need to be added).

13.Have you used the Honouros?

No. (Admittedly my work has blocked it.)

14.How often do you refer to it?

Never.

15.Is the information given sufficient?

I have no idea.

16.Do you realise the images are links to the articles?

I haven't seen them but I'd imagine that's pretty standard fare.

17.What other information would you like to see?

The Liber Honouros itself would be nice. Damned work resstrictions.

18.Any other comments?

Here's hoping I get a new computer soon.

Liber Astartes

Liber Astartes is a strange oddity at the Bolter and Chainsword, without a single chapter to hold us together, and the amount of energy required to give good feedback, our member base is often fleeting. I would just like to focus the final section on the sub-forum as a whole.

19.How do you find the atmosphere in Liber?

Okay.

20.How would you rate the feedback you have received?

It helped.

21.How often do you give feedback?

Frequently, when writing.

Yes, for the most part.

16.Do you realise the images are links to the articles?

Yes

17.What other information would you like to see?

I shouldn't answer. I'd not be fully satisfied until I know every last detail. I'll just say "every bit helps".

18.Any other comments?

Nope

19.How do you find the atmosphere in Liber?

Great

20.How would you rate the feedback you have received?

Skipping this for now, haven't been active here long enough to rate it. Don't want to be rude.

21.How often do you give feedback?

Daily (Well, now that I have time I will try anyways)

22.How would you improve Liber if you were given the almighty powers of Ferrata....I mean of a Moderator?

Capture the point for Chaos! Well, no. I don't know really. That is not a goal to me.

The Guide to DIYing[/b]

The Guide to DIYing is an on-going project, and to be honest, it has been pretty dead in the water for a while now. New articles have trickled in at times, but I haven't added to it for a while. This section looks at how useful the Guide is.

20. It helped.

21. Weekly, when I can. I try to reply to the ones that interest me and have potential. The ones that are unoriginal, I honestly don't give the time of day.

22. I'd help more often on the Liber. The Liber is my favorite spot on the forum next to WIPs.

It helped

21.How often do you give feedback?

Daily/Ouch my fingers (and eyes)

22.How would you improve Liber if you were given the almighty powers of Ferrata....I mean of a Moderator?

I have no sensible suggestions.

1. Yes

2. When I need to-i.e, I have a new idea, I look to see if it has been covered, as in 'don't do this' 'if you do this then there are the following caveats' etc

3. Astartes and the Imperium-I think this is a crucial, crucial section, seeing as I have seen many posters, myself included, who do not fully understand the complex relationships at work here. I am still learning stuff.

4. See above!

5. I think the guide is one helluva useful tool. If you want to know what I mean, check out my stuff before and after I read the guide. Night (Lords implausible loyalist created by Corax in secret splinter) and Day

I am afraid that I use Lexicanum's timelines (the shame!), so I can't really comment on this 6-12. Moving on. (Blushes)

13. Yes

14. You can't get me off it. (As in Code: Smeagol-'Yesss, the precious, the Liber Honourossssss, yessss, the preciousss, I wants it!)

15. Yes, definetely

16. Yes, but I actually think it would be better if the Images were links to the enlarged images, to give people a few ideas for schemes, and the names links to the articles.

17. I am fairly happy with it, to be honest.

18. Very good!

19. Sometimes, it can be a real team spirit, at others it can be fairly poor. When people have fluff-ideas that can be contentious (STC Battleships, Fallen Sisters, Lost Legions, Traitor geneseed). People can get carried away start to flame and troll (actually, I have no idea what those terms mean, but, hey, they describe bad people). I have done it myself, although I was attacking a poster who was attacking a DIY Chapter. I had to go back and apologise, and appreciate that what I did was wrong. Another thing was that Index Astartes: Adjective Nouns thing that turned up a while back-that could really discourage people.

20. Really useful for the Angels Crimson IA, and I imagine the Shadow Brethren will be almost co-authored, so well done there.

21. More than twice a week, but nowhere near daily. My New Year Resolution is to feedback more.

22. MY NAME IS FERRATA, KING OF KINGS! LOOK UPON MY WORKS, YE MIGHTY, AND DESPAIR!

The only thing I would say, is changing the 'do's and 'don't's section, to 'do's and 'be careful with's. I think that the stuff described there is good, but there is no reason people shouldn't do it. It is a question of balance. We really don't want to kill creativity. Tell people that they have to make damnsome sure that their fluff is solid, and that it is plausible. Although, of course, female marines are waaaay out.

All in all, great work.

22.How would you improve Liber if you were given the almighty powers of Ferrata....I mean of a Moderator?

Nothing really. Maybe get rid of some of the other topics. IE people start a chapter, then start new threads for almost every updated version of the chapter. I'm guilty of this, but it's kind of annoying. Maybe enforce something like only two threads per chapter.
