After nearly a year off, I came back. This time with a DIY Vulkan He'stan "counts-as". And also, frustratingly enough, I had alot of trouble catching this guy's armor in the camera. It is in fact, not white. But pearl. As in the necklace pearl. Very difficult to paint that for me. I mixed it using Metal Medium and Skull White. In real life, he's armor does have that pearlescent flicker that follows with the light. I'm rather proud of that.

I like the flamer, what bits did you use for it

Apothecary Arm bit, and Flamer nozzle.

The pearl armour looks nice. I bet his hand will get hot with touching the barrel of the flamer all day :)

I was quite surprized by it to be honest. The mixture had a much different consistency then I am used to.

Looks good, but a little tip; pearl is actually an incredibly pale shade of peach. So orange + white = pearl, youd just need alot of white, or not much orange at all. Nice looking idea.

That then brings up the idea of using the rest of the bottle of Metal Medium with some Skull White/Orange mix. I'll probably try that and post it up.

what body is that from? looks like inquisition judging by the big I on the belt area. and he's missing his backpack :tu:

love the cloak and force halberd. i bet the pearl shine looks awesome in person

The body was the last "Torquemada Corteaz" body I had. And lol someone caught me. Btw, the force halberd was gonna have an end but I lost it shortly before the Golden Bolter. It was a gem, painted very Eldar-ish.

The paint looks a little thick. I'd watch out for that.

Will do, especially in the future, as stated before I was surprised when the Metal Medium changed the consistency. I'll probably have to use it a bit more before I understand its properties well enough.

I really like the conversion! Very nice work on the purple on the cloak: just like I would imagine it, bellowing in the wind.

Thank you, to be honest, I was very unsure about using a Torquemada body, although his armor is ornate, it would probably have been more effective looking if it was painted a metallic.

Lovely mini, will the pearl effect be used throughout the army or just for the captain?

I've seen a couple of counts-as He'stans now and I'd probably say yours is my favourite, nice work.

You flatter me so, you dirty man you XD.

But yes, thanks and, this will be used throughout the entire army. The next model to recieve this paint job will probably be the Master of Forge or a Dreadnought. My troops, are well, gonna be Dark Angel Vetrans (for the robed look, all purple robes of course) so they will probably come last (I really hate painting troops choices). The reason Purple was chosen though, is that I am color coding each company of the chapter. Purple will be 1st/Vetran. He'stan was chosen to lead it due to gear/abilities to buff the army.
