FLC's LPC WIP thread...

Recommended Posts

Hi! This is where I shall be painting up an Emperor's Champion for the 2010 LPC. I might use him as my chapter master, but i haven't decided yet. I ordered the model today so should arrive soon.

I'm planning on painting him in the style of a Space Crusade Captain.

Like I say I'm planning... Hopefully he won't turn out like an apocathery.

Anyway thanks for looking ;)

And not long after he arrived he accidently lifted his sword from the wrong end...

Luckily a techmarine was close by so he welded a new fist on for him..

I have the same model on my workbench atm and was planning to add a fist to him. Now I know it will look ace. Nice model mate, the white looks good so far. Hoping to see some more paint on him soon.

Cheers Dampe, I was a little apprehensive about cutting his hand off at first but I'm glad I did! I'm having to leave him for tonight now to let the white properly dry. So on with some of my termies instead :P

Nice simple conversion! Looks great and I wish you luck with the white. I'm having trouble getting mine right but you seem to be doing well!

Cheers Tutteman, I don't think I'll ever paint white again though. The trick seems to be lots of thin watered down coats.

Heres a little update with all the base coat colours on.

Yeah hard lesson. I unfortunately am the prat who made his DIY white before he realised it was a nasty colour to paint. :D Good luck once more.

Or not paint the white, what i have done is prime it white, then use diluted badab black in the recesses, followed by a chaos black wash in the cracks, then you take slightly watered down black, and paint into every crack of the armor, while keeping the big blocks of white primer intact, thus getting a nice clean coat of white, whitout all the smudges and weird texture that painting white gives you.

Here's what I do to paint white, base coat in Chaos Black, paint all areas you're planning to paint White with thinned down Astranomican Grey, then wash with a 1:1 water / Badab Black mix, then build up the White with several thin coats of Skull White.

You've kept it smooth though ;)

Okay here's another small update. Detailing is more or less finished.

Left to do: Side arm, back pack and finish the base.

EDIT: I tried to get the eagle on his right side to look as much like the captain in Space Crusade.

I also need to decide whether to free hand the chapter symbol or buy some decal paper and download the badge from this very site :)
