CainTheHunter
Yesterday finally my scouts arrived and equipped with bits from Chaos Marauders and Catachan jungle fighters, I started to assemble mean savage guys which are really bad-ass. I will be posting some pics soon and might even jump into Librarium Painting Challenge. I was skipping through the bits and found an IG vox caster and started to think how and whether Wolf scouts communicate with main forces and whether converted vox caster would be appropriate on one of models (having no in-game effect of course). I want to build them as self-sufficient, autonomous force, able to operate BEL for prolonged period of times, which they actually do - hence ropes, extra-ammo, knives, backpack with stuff and maybe vox-caster (it looks quite cool actually). So what do You think and basically is it according to fluff? Wolf Guard Hengist
I dont see why not to be honest mate I reckon some will say nay but its down to personel preference. I have given my scouts back packs etc and one of them does has a Vox unit as I think it would be needed for longer range comms. CainTheHunter
Yeah - I've read a Lexicanum article where PA (and I presume Scout armor as well) in-build vox-comms are desribed as short-ranged and used for pack-to-pack communication only. So it appears reasonable and having some common-sense - at least according to modern warfare. Hfran Morkai
Your idea seems pretty interesting. I was planning on using my Land Speeder Storm model as a standard Land Speeder but modelling scouts with comms gear in the back. rodgambit
I used that skull horn (marauders box) for one of my 13th Company scouts. Kinda savage but I like the idea of the war horn signaling the grey slayers that they have attacked behind enemy lines and are mixing it up. Niiai
I usualy asume that space marines have vox casters included in there helmets and/or armour. They have hi teck and not the cumbering WWII inspiered imperial guard. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191378-scouts-communicating-with-main-forces/#findComment-2271368 Share on other sites
AcidBurn
if you want to roll with the vox caster idea then go for it. just for the record though space all marines have a vox bead implanted in their throat and ear, and i think they can be used for long and short range communication, well going by what is in the novels. JCarter
I combined some Catachan torsos and SM legs to make scouts in undershirts and one has a xox. Looks good; so does the scout with a working grapnel and rope.
