I would say the backpack would be a servo harness or a modified chierogun (Sp? also is that right?) that has had its medical tools removed and has been added to with combat weapons. Now here comes the "everyone's a critic" bit. Ferrus Manus never thought with an axe. It was either awseome pistol, forgebreaker (Big hammer), fireblade or iron hands.
