We had a 1250 point tournament at Gamers' Haven in Cleveland on saturday the 30th, and sadly I think I only ranked in the top 6 (through killpoints mainly and one draw).

My list was experimental and used x2 reclusiarchs to give my Initiates the Litanies of Hate buff and Suffer Not to give them +1 strength, which was helpful and surprising to my opponents. Here's the list:

1250 Pts - Black Templars Roster

1 Black Templars Chaplain (Reclusiarch)

1 Reclusiarch (Crozius Arcanum; Crusader Seals; Rosarius; Frag Grenades; Melta Bombs; Bolt Pistol x1; Suffer Not The Unclean To Live)

1 Rosarius

1 Jump Pack

1 Terminator Honors

1 Black Templars Chaplain (Reclusiarch)

1 Reclusiarch (Crozius Arcanum; Crusader Seals; Rosarius; Frag Grenades; Melta Bombs; Bolt Pistol x1; Suffer Not The Unclean To Live)

1 Rosarius

1 Terminator Honors

1 Emperor's Champion - (Bolt Pistol; Crusader Seals; Frag Grenades; The Black Sword; Suffer Not The Unclean To Live)

1 Armor of Faith

1 The Black Sword

Techmarine: Terminator Honors, Jump Pack, Storm Shield -115

9 Crusader Squad - (Bolt Pistol x8; Close Combat Weapon x7; Meltagun; Power Fist; Suffer Not The Unclean To Live)

1 Rhino (Storm Bolter; Extra Armor; Smoke Launchers) Reclusiarch goes here.

8 Crusader Squad - (Bolt Pistol x7; Close Combat Weapon x7; Meltagun; Power Fist; Suffer Not The Unclean To Live)

1 Rhino (Storm Bolter; Extra Armor; Smoke Launchers) Emperor's Champion goes here.

(Reclusiarch can also go here if superduper uber killy squad is needed)

1 Land Speeder Squadron - (Multi-Melta x1)

1 Land Speeder Squadron - (Multi-Melta x1; Heavy Flamer x1)

6 Black Templars Assault Squad - (Bolt Pistol x1; Close Combat Weapon x9; Frag Grenades; Jump Packs; Melta Bombs; Plasma Pistol x2; Storm Shield x3; Power Fist) Jump-pack equipped Reclusiarch goes here. Jump pack equiped Techmarine Joins

1st game; Vs. Imperial Guard

This game went well. We were instructed to choose a target unit to be hunted. I managed to nearly kill his ratlling snipers, but they managed to kill my techmarine in close combat!??? I got deep into his deployment zone and ransacked alot of his units, killed all of his vehicles and HQ. Won that game. Hands down.

2nd game; vs. Death Guard Chaos Marines

Suffer not really helped out here. My opponent, a very young kid that knows every rule of the game, did very well but lost his Demon Prince to my Emperors Champion (go champion!!!) very early in the game. His chaos terminators, in kind, took out my whole assault group, chaplain, techmarine, et all, but my guys took out all but two of them. It ended in a very close defeat for me. An unlucky deepstrike for me and a lucky shooting turn for him did me in in turn 7. this was a whirlwind game of mutual anihilation- he had only his terminators and 10% of a tactical squad left at the end, though I had gotten tabled.

3rd game; Vs. Hiamlar's Crimson Lions-

Damn this was a weird, tough game. The game was more or less set in the Eye of Terror and had some weird rules- every infantry unit could deep strike. I got slaughtered in the begining but then my super squad of one melta weilding marine, one reclusiarch and the Emperor's champion doubled their points back, while my assault squad/techmarine/reclusiarch messed up both of his vindis and devestator squad (a x4 plasma cannon squad). The game ended with some epic shooting sequences- His sternguard vs. my lone Reclusiarch, a tac squad against my Emperor's Champion, screaming hate and defiance as they were shot to pieces. Edd is a great player and a cool guy; he helped me build my list and I've played against his tourney build before. One of these days I will win a game with him!

4th game; vs. Gazghul's Waaagh!

Yes, someone brought Thrakka into a 1250 point tournament. This game was great! Again, a whirlwind game of annihlation and ferrocious hand to hand. When Thrakka came into play he was a wrecking ball but every turn was hard for him. He lost half his retinue the first turn, half the next, and 2 wounds the third he was in. He took out the Champion but not before that third wound was put on him, but he managed to feel no pain the 4th! Then he barreled into my objective holders, who had been in the backfield stoically watching their comrades die gloriously. They inflicted 12 wounds on him (great dice roll) and the bastard finally died. The game ended in a tie- I held one objective, so did he, and we were both contesting one.

So I did... OK. I think next time will be better.

Definately buying a vindicator when I can.

-Transmission ends.

Good stuff Burningblood. It's nice to see someone take chappies and a different vow for a change. I like your list, it has all the things that conventional 5th ed templar wisdom says not to take; chappies, jump troops and (shock horror) a vow that isn't AAC. It's a shame you didn't go up against the new 'nids, it would have been very interesting to find out how Suffer Not and Chappy re-rolls do against the bigger bugs.

This is interesting. Good one Burningblood.

It could be a decent option for tailored Eldars lists.

SntU isn't as good as AAC, no mixing it any other way. However, with the Litanies of Hate our Chaplains bring, you get both the re-rolls and the strength buff.... hmmm. :)
