Gresiloth
I recently decided to remodel an old Space Wolves Land Raider for my Nurgle army, so here it is, ready to paint! http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2068.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2070.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2071.jpg - the Nurgle emblems on each side of the hull were made out of wooden Night Goblin shields linked together with bits of sprue. I’ve always thought of Nurgle as one of the most ‘medieval’ armies in 40k, and I think objects like wood, chains, bells, and scrolls convey this well. I would have adorned the Land Raider with more bells and parchments if I had any left from the flagellants kit, but I’ve tried to make up for it with some wood! I may also try to paint some freehand pestilent litanies in certain places to further the medieval feel. - The only thing I haven’t quite worked out is what to do about the lascannon scope things, as you can see the right sponson’s has been lost. Any ideas? I thought maybe just remove the left one and replace with the demonic heads from the chaos vehicle accessories sprue. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2072.jpg - I used the spare head from a Great Unclean One to leer from the front hatch. - Keeping with the wood theme, I removed the spokes from a High Elf cart wheel and put it round the heavy bolters. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2073.jpg - this is my favourite part of the Land Raider, as another cart wheel seemed to work really nicely for the crew hatch. Watch this space for the paint job! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191430-land-raider-nurgle-style/ Share on other sites
FlamingDeth
Looking pretty good! For the missing lascannon scope, you might just leave the one that has it as is, and use the daemonic head on the other one. Nurgle is nothing if not asymmetrical! Also, I think it would look appropriate to have one of the barrels on top be cracked and oozing out some sort of something over the side of the vehicle. Can't have too much rot, rust and general decrepitness on Nurgle vehicles. XKhalilX
maggots, lots of maggots flowing out of the spot where the lascannon missing. That would be sick meaning in both nurgle and cool  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191430-land-raider-nurgle-style/#findComment-2271316 Share on other sites
Gresiloth
Can't have too much rot, rust and general decrepitness on Nurgle vehicles. I actually disagree, I think Nurgle vehicles are probably the most vulnerable of all to tasteless over-the-top modelling. I tend to prefer a 'less is more' approach (e.g. reserving bloated bellies for certain characters, restraining the GS on vehicles)... but then again maybe it's just because I am very lazy! I might just remove the other scope and trim down the plastic stub of each, so you basically wouldn't notice something should be there. I like the maggots idea but I don't really have an immediate way of doing it and I plan to spray it tomorrow. I'll also consider the cracked barrel! Capt. Lysander
Great job on the conversions! I love the front and the 'popping out' look on the crew member. Gresiloth
The paint job isn't 100% finished, but here we go. I still plan to add some paint chips and possibly overlay some Scorched Brown streaks over some of the Blazing Orange rust, but it's getting there! http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2075.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2080.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2082.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2079.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2084.jpg All feedback very welcome :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/191430-land-raider-nurgle-style/#findComment-2277714 Share on other sites
Lestat
A Nurgle Land Raider that isn't green! Surely not! Seriously, that is one nice looking Raider, even if it's not the standard green. The paintjob still gives it the feeling of death, decay and general unpleasentness. Nice job! If you want to take it one step further, maybe use some water effects stuff to add some drool to the daemon face or gunk leaking out of the lascannons and vents - just an idea. Gresiloth
yeah that's a cool idea, I tend to use PVA glue here and there to give a wet look, so maybe I will give it a go!
